Talk about extremism. People ask me when I traveled through the occupied territories if I was afraid of terrorists. I always found this amusing. The answer is no. The Palestinians don't scare me and they're not terrorists. Under international law, as an occupied people, they have the right to resist the occupation by any and all means possible. Besides, the Muslim faith prohibits attacking someone who hasn't shown a hostility toward you and as a Christian, I'm considered a sister and of the book.

However, the Israelis do frighten me and this very short piece in Haaretz illustrates why. Israel is also the only country in the world that can kill Americans and get away with it. The last time I looked at the stats, (2005) the state of Israel had murdered 40 Americans in cold blood between 1967 and 2005. They've never been held accountable for a single one and these people cover all three faiths: Christianity, Islam and Judaism. The extremism demonstrated in this article is a belief held by approximately 30% of the Israeli population, and a key belief with the terror wielding settler movement. They do not consider non-Jewish people to be fully human and feel justified in killing whether the person is one day old or 100. To make their case, they twist scripture and take passages out of context, the same way the Christian Right promotes its justifications for hatred and groups like the Taliban theirs. No, the Jewish faith doesn't promote this, but like all faiths, it can be twisted to justify evil and that's what this Rabbi is doing. It's what Pat Robertson and John Hagee do in the US with Christianity and its what the Taliban and extremist Imams do with Islam. Wouldn't it be nice if we could take all these apostate religious leaders and put them together on an island where they can only hurt themselves? Then the rest of us could get on with the business of living without the need to hate.

I agree with the below: Polysci major says she knows her sh** but when asked who Netanyahu is, she has no clue. And she's in Israel. Nice job on this Mondo. The shear level of hatred, self-pity, racism and ignorance these kids show. They don't even realize how utterly hateful and self-absorbed they are.
Fortunately not all American Jews are this hateful, ignorant, self-absorbed and misinformed. Those that are represent a minority. All that I know are quite the opposite, even those who occasionally I get into some pretty heated debates with and call themselves Zionists...though I have met several like those shown in this video. Usually when I'm in Israel.

Uri Blau has done several articles exposing the increasingly frightening mental transformation of soldiers in Israel from kids to killers to hard core racists. This is a terrifying expose of what happens when humanity leaves and the void is filled with pure hatred. It's also an indication that Zionism is imploding upon itself. You'll always have 10-15% of the population that hangs on to extremism because it is the only thing they have to justify their existence. Without it, they have to look at themselves and unless they're sociopaths, which few are, the reality is too much to take. This is an example of racism on steroids and will be very hard to read for many.
I can only imagine the uproar throughout the world if a Palestinian did anything remotely similar to this. They'd immediately be labeled, appropriately, anti-Semitic. Irony is these soldiers don't realize they are rabidly anti-Semitic, given Palestinians are Semitic. Maybe it's time people started calling them what they really are. Cold blooded anti-Semitic racist killers.

I've been privy to a number of debates and alarms in the worldwide Muslim community about this film which I have not seen. The good thing about this attack is that it could change the tide. I think it was 1963 when white supremacists bombed the church in Birmingham and killed 4 little girls in the basement. That atrocity broke through the denial and forced the majority of Americans to begin re-evaluating their racist attitudes. Perhaps when Americans begin to realize we are becoming like Nazis in many ways, both in the US, overseas and through our support of Israeli apartheid, that shame and realization will finally move us to act. This kind of thing should never happen in America, though over the past eight years, I'm not sure I even know what my own country is any more. I know we were never meant to be this.
As an aside, the throwing of gas into rooms where Muslim children are playing, praying or congregating is not new. The first time this was caught on film was by a British / American film crew in October 2000. It was the Israelis throwing poison gas into the courtyards of homes in Gaza as children played, in that case and all others since in the Occupied Territories, a war crime.

Excuse me? The Zionist Movement's Goal is to defend state lands from the invasion of Arabs? To begin with, the Arabs were there first so it isn't defending, it is stealing. Secondly, these are not communities, they are colonies, illegal by International Law and every single Jewish person living in these colonies is a war criminal under international law. There was no disengagement from Gaza. If there had been, the walls would come down and the Palestinians could leave freely from their coastline and border with Egypt. And no, one Israeli is not worth thousands of gentiles. One Israeli is equal to one non-Jew, period and neither should be afford privilege above the other. What this essay bemoans is the affects on nature. This is of concern, but the effects on men should be of utmost importance and it is obvious this writer doesn't consider non-Jewish people human, let alone as important as a tree. Extremely disgusting.

Just in case you start to get really frustrated with all the violence, racism, apartheid and hypocritical news coming out of the Holy Land, This is one of a growing number of groups working together and paving the way for a future in the region of equality, democracy and equal rights, where one isn't judged by their religion or the color of their skin, merely upon their actions and character.

Nice Job ABC! Unfortunately this is one face of America but you'll notice in the video, more people objected than supported this man's racism.
I have to say on my recent trip to the Middle East, whether in Palestine, Jordan or Saudi Arabia, even knowing I was Christian I was embraced with open arms everywhere I went...except the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. There I did experience racism against me because of my faith, but only from Jewish people and in other parts of Israel, I did not experience the same from Jewish citizens.
The Muslims and Christians in all of these nations generally greeted me with, "Marhaba" meaning, you are welcome and many would chase me down the street when they saw my camera and invite me in for coffee, lunch or dinner.

  • On the destruction of Muslim charitable institutions...

Rated Jun 17 2008 1 review israel, zionism, racism, us policy, charities imemc.org

The woman writing this article is a Nobel peace prize winner as well as Jewish. Her observations and horror at what the Israeli Government is doing in the Occupied Territories speaks volumes.

The reason the US and Israel are attacking Islamic charities here and abroad has nothing to do with 'terrorism' or 'funding terrorism'. Charity is one of the five pillars of Islam and Islamic societies see it as their duty to provide for all within their realm regardless of ethnicity, race or religion. They don't believe it is the government's place to do what God intended man to do for each other. The charities are the thread that sustain and hold together communities. They provide all of the essential services. By undermining these institutions, Israel and the United States are able to cripple the entire society by cutting off access to food, health, social support and strength while concurrently forcing the community to depend upon the occupier and bend to its will. This takes the power from the people and gives it back to the state. It's a form of forced socialism.
Ironically, the core idea behind conservative, libertarian or Federalist movements is that government should remain small, (thus preventing corruption and pressing accountability). It should stay out of peoples' every day lives and that private organizations and charities are better suited to serve the needs of those within their care. It is a founding principle of the United States, one Americans have traded for ever-increasing controls over our lives by government institutions. The price of that trade is freedom. The Islamic charities allow those within those nations to live free from government interference which is also a foundation of democracy. Remind me again who is bringing democracy to whom? And if that is the case, why are we destroying the very framework which insures self-sufficiency within entire communities.

    Something to think about.

The level of hatred directed at Palestinians by the extremists in Israel rarely makes the US news. A few weeks ago Yishev students held a book burning of New Testaments. This also didn't make the US press. Public Opinion polls in Israel still show that over 60% of Israel's Jewish citizens favor ethnic cleansing of non-Jews from the land it wants. This is advocated under excuses such as population transfer and often couched in a 'two state' solution. Last week Ha'aretz was purchased by a German company and they immediately began cleaning out their stable of moderate writers including Amira Haas and Gideon Levy, two Israelis who consistently told the other side of the story about Israel's oppression of the Palestinians.

Got to love it. When I was over in Israel and Palestine last month the racism on the Israeli side was so obvious. Getting it down to a local level like this is the first step to ending it for good.
