Love Chalmers Johnson. If you haven't read any of his books, you should. He tags it dead on. My favorite is Nemesis which came out about 2 years ago. Very sobering article on the State of the Nation.

Thank heaven. If you watch the media in the US you'll have no clue what is really going on in Gaza. Here Israel Soldiers refuse to get involved in their nation's war crimes. In the US, we have the Winter Soldiers. What's going on right now in Gaza isn't about 'self-defense' or retaliation. Israel killed the cease fire on November 4th when it bombed and killed 6. This is about ethnic cleansing and regime change, the attempt to put in place a government in Palestine that will capitulate to Israel's demands rather than stand and fight for the best interests of their own people. At stake is who controls the government...and the very large natural gas reserve just off the coast of Gaza.

This is an important opinion piece in the Los Angeles Times. The Bush Administration is attempting to erode the Constitution further. Even thou they shall be out of power, the majority of those supporting them will not. Congress has the power to declare war. This is so the people of the United States do not become fodder for fortune hunters and their own personal army. We were never intended to have a standing army as we now have because a standing army needs something to do and that's where imperialism and meddling comes from. Now forces in our government want to eliminate further safeguards so they can declare more wars? Granted, between 1945 and 911 we've been engaged in 200 undeclared wars. One must ask why this proposal is being put forth now.

I find the comments by others on this rather disturbing because it shows the level of ignorance in America as to the dramatically elevated incidents of suicide of our troops not being reported in the American press. Project Censored covered this in their TOP 25 Most Censored Stories of 2007. In fact simply spend some time on the Winter Soldiers website or Veterans for Peace and you'll discover this is an epidemic.

I've had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with this articles author Phil Tourney several times now. Not only do I like how he approached this style-wise, he's really able to bring home the travesty that is the USS Liberty and the American Governments continued dispassion toward the survivors simply because the only country in the world with full carte blanch to kill Americans, attacked this ship.

I just finished the Josh Turner segment of this and I've got tears streaming down my face. The good news is, our soldiers are figuring out what they're doing. The bad news is, what they are describing, the war crimes and crimes against humanity our soldiers are committing in pursuit of 'democracy' and 'freedom', neither of which we are killing for or promoting, continues today and everyday. Leaving me to ask, who are the real monsters in the Middle East? Who are the real terrorists in the world? One of my reviewers chastised me for having a 'bias' against Judaism and then indicated a few words later that he equates Israel and Judaism and his real issue with me is that I criticize Israel. First of all, Judaism and Israel are not the same thing. Other than the assertion that the political entity is 'Jewish', there is very little Jewish about Israel if one reads the Torah and compares it to Israeli society. Its lack of God's principles in its actions is part of its problem.

However, Yes, I have a bias against Zionism, the political ideology behind the subjugation, ethnic cleansing and apartheid policies of the nation state of Israel. I'll keep that bias thank you. Just like I'll keep my bias against Nazism, white supremacy, racism, elitism, militarism, lying, murder, neoconservativism, war crimes and crimes against humanity. These are healthy bias and we are meant to have bias against certain things which are harmful to us physically, emotionally and morally. Each of the above listed feeds off of each other and justifies things and actions that human beings, absent of propaganda and manipulation would not do.

Case in point: This special report on the Winter Soldiers shows what happens to normal people when they come under control of people seeking power at any cost whether they be American and British soldiers killing Iraqis and Afghanis, or Israeli soldiers killing Christians and Muslims in Palestine. If we all held on to a bias against evil, the actions of evil and the rationalizations justify it. If we ceased making excuses for it, perhaps we'd find a way to stop killing and start working with people toward a common good.

I don't know a lot about Myanmar (Burma) or what's going on there so this brief summary from one of my news groups I found quite helpful.

I also found it frightening. Contrasting why they are protesting with several levels of `Executive Privilege' Bush has instituted since 2001...one being that in the event of national unrest he can freeze bank accounts as has happened in Myanmar. Another being the complete suspension of habeas corpus, including American citizens coupled with our President's circumventing the Constitution and claiming the ability to commandeer the National Guard from the states and use it to subdue American citizens.

Inflation and fuel costs were the catalyst in Myanmar. A situation created by poor economic policy and a trend toward utility privatization in that country.

There is a reason the Arab world sees the United States and Israel as one. This is one example.

Torture, hooding, pre-emptive strikes, walling in people, checkpoints for civilians...these are all Israeli policies that weren't part of the American military or American policy before we began our incestuous relationship. So now our soldiers are going to become experts at creating terrorism? Because that is exactly what Israel does.

I have issues with this tactic. To me it borders on aiding and abetting the enemy which is treason. All we have to do is what Congress did during Viet Nam and cut off all funding except the funds used to replace what we destroyed and get our troops home.
This isn't the way to fight it. People get killed. We have a congress. That is where the fight needs to take place. My two cents on this. Not comfortable with it at all.

You'll notice the mainstream US media is burying this story about the 40th year anniversary of the attack on the USS Liberty this Friday. Rather the msm has been 'celebrating' Israel's conquest of the West Bank, Sinai, Golan and Gaza, coupled with its further ethnic cleansing during that time referred to as the six day war. Personally I find the whole thing disgusting.
