As the primary elections draw closer I'm noticing those funny little divides in America over peripheral issues like Gay marriage, health care and abortion. Yes, in my twenties I joined the sheeple (Sheep People) and voted according to a candidate's stand on abortion, (we're called 1-issue voters). What is frightening is that even then I was better informed than 90% of the population and still I didn't get it. The above issues really have nothing to do with the big issues. To begin with, according to our constitution, these are all issues which should be decided and administered on a state level, not national. Therefore they are irrelevant in national elections. They serve as distractions. The big issues are laid out in the Bill of Rights. The fact is, without the Bill of Rights, the first 10 amendments to the Constitution, it really doesn't matter where you stand on Gay Marriage, health care or abortion. Without those rights, these can be given or taken away at will by whoever is in power.
The Constitution also separates power, giving each of the 3-branches of government equal influence. Without this we end up with a nation ruled, not led. Currently this is the agenda of most of the Presidential candidates, to acquire more power for themselves so they can do what they want. How do we know this? Since WWII every president continues to invoke privileges never intended by the Constitution. Bush II has taken this further than any other, but they've all done it, even Kennedy. Congress continues to bust out of its seams, with larger and bigger staffs devoted to courting lobbyists and continues to spend less and less time with the people they are supposed to represent. Ironically being in the Senate and Congress is intended to be a part-time job.
This editorial highlights the real issue before the American people in this next presidential election: Shall we remain a republic and follow our constitution or shall we allow those in power to continue to destroy it, impose their will and lead us down the road of imperialism, conquest, dictatorship and ultimately as happens to all nations who follow this path, our destruction. The American people are being set up. It's as plain as the nose on your face if you simply open your eyes.
Governments always take your rights by attacking the fringe groups first that the majority of people are either apathetic toward or have a bias toward. In Nazi Germany it started with the mentally ill, homosexuals and handicap. Later it progressed to persons of color, those with unconventional lifestyles (gypsies) and those with disputes (Poles and Communists). Last but not least, Jews and Christians who refused to accept the Nazi conventions of normality were added. In the United States, a frenzy of hatred is being whipped up against immigrants...especially those from poor nations. These people are being used as the excuse for national ID's, border walls, additional prisons and extremely invasive background checks for all Americans. When people aren't convinced by the 'illegal immigrants' argument, the 'threat of terrorists' is thrown in for good measure and another 30% of people fall in line.
The homosexual community's targeting isn't quite as clear cut. Propaganda states homosexuality or bisexuality is a condition you're born with and the homosexual community is attempting to make it a civil rights issue with substantial success since most Americans don't research facts and take sound bytes, repeated add nauseam, at face value. Science however says it is a behavior and choice with over 50 studies in the past 35 years all coming to this same conclusion. Yes this fact is rather inconvenient to the movement's agenda which is total acceptance and endorsement of their lifestyle choices, behavior and preferences. It's why it is never mentioned and why the argument is always positioned as `we can't help it' and `we're victims of bigotry'.
