I agree 100% with this article.

I don't want my fears to be corroborated, though in this instance I can't help but think it's true. Just look at the Cult of Personality the Preznit has created around himself, or the one that continues to this day around Ronnie Raygun or Dumbya. The urge to have an aristocracy peopled by lords and ladies is strong in the American psyche.
I am atheist as a muthafucker, and I want not part of this shit. Orthodoxy and dogma are not welcome, even in atheism. This fuckers can fuck off, two times! If I ever hear of a Sunday Assembly sprouting up in my neck of the woods I will actively work against it.
Horse armor had better be dirt cheap, if not free. First sign of gameplay affecting goods and I am out of the game (I plan on buying this).
It's pretty telling Hugo Schwyzer cites a tweet from another white guy as being the one that drove him from the intertubes.
Man, it's all the coddling that society gives white dudes that makes them so thin skinned. If they had to leave as a member of one of the many groups they leech off of I think they might be able to take criticism better. Maybe. But would they ever acknowledge the women of color who criticized them? Doubtful. Schwyzer sure as shit never did.
At this point if you speak to a defender of the NSA surveillance program(s) you are either speaking with a rank partisan or a completely misinformed idiot. Both are the same in my eyes!
Sometimes, people can change. It takes an adult, mature person to honestly say, I fucked up.
From the page: "Ironically, "What Happened at Dos Erres" accomplished Glass's longstanding goal of providing a perspective on the United States "that you couldn't get elsewhere." One would be hard-pressed to encounter another contemporary mainstream account of that period so thoroughly sanitized of Washington's involvement in crimes against humanity."
Seems fairly typical for anything broadcast on Nice Polite Republicans, a.k.a. NPR.
Hopefully in a few years the use of drones is done away with, at least the lethal kind that is.
And who says raising a little hell doesn't get you noticed?
Of course your metadata won't be used for anything other than National Security, except for when it isn't. Corporations have access to the same info that our beloved Homeland Security folks do too, and they will use it against you or anyone who dares challenge their dominance.
The Hunt for Osama bin Laden is the gift that keeps on giving!
Nixon is in his grave wishing he had the people Barack Obama has around him.
Every day, the mask slips just a bit more to reveal your typical Imperial mindset.
From the page: "From a Birmingham jail, where he was imprisoned for violating a lawful injunction, Martin Luther King, Jr. famously wrote, "one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws." Would Professor Stone call this the "arrogance of a single, unelected individual" who was acting "without any legal authority?"
If what Snowden did is not moral, then nothing is moral. If Snowden had no moral right to disclose the most far-reaching criminal conspiracy against the American public in history, then nobody ever has a moral right to disclose anything.
Professor Stone includes, in a concessive clause, the phrase, "I think we need a healthy distrust of our public officials." However, the rest of Professor Stone's letter, including his admonition that Snowden had "no legal or moral right" to disobey orders, reveals this "healthy distrust" to be an impotent, wispy, passive sort of distrust: a professed mental state that is never connected in any way with real, living activity. This certainly is not the vigilant distrust championed by the revolutionaries from whom the American legal system originated."
Lawrence O'Donnell is one smug, egotistical piece of shit. A smug POS that will remind you, ad infinitum, that he is a supposed socialist.
As with Tea Baggers, I don't think O'Donnell knows what the fuck that word means.
And he is a piece of shit.
So if the name of the Washington, D.C. football team was a racial slur of a larger racial group or a homophobic slur how much do you want to bet it would have been changed a long time ago? I know, it's a suckers bet but hey, we can at least pretend that racism really matters to most white folks in the U.S. and that maybe the same amount of concern they have for their white gay and lesbian friends might translate over to the rest of us. You know, the racial minorities who just saw their voting rights possibly restricted while mostly white gay men and white lesbian women get to have their marriages acknowledged outside of the 13 states with same sex marriage?
I know, it's bullshit. The LGBT community is acceptable now mainly due to it's overall white color while the POC in this country will just have to wait for our concerns to be addressed. I hope all of the honky's out there so concerned about who can marry who remember their being bad allies when they are the minority. I know I won't forget and neither will the majority of the rest of the POC's in the U.S. We are the future, white bread's of all kinds aren't.
The Emperor has no clothes, as the rest of the world is catches on to this development. I can understand why China and Russia might not be intimidated by an egghead. I know I wouldn't be.
All of us could do with reading the stories collected in this Gawker series. I am glad they provided a space for people to vent and get some catharsis.
Michael Hastings didn't cozy up to power, unlike many of the so-called "journalists" you see on the TeeVee. He will be missed. The Operators was an excellent book that is a good, quick read which manages to inform while it entertains.
I will gladly support any and all who are on the list of organizations calling for an investigation into the NSA scandal that has come to light over the last two weeks. Those missing among the signatories? They will also be remembered and shunned.
