An interesting footnote to British History.

    FROM THE PIECE:

"The British government has estimated that a total of 150,000 British children may have been shipped abroad between 1618 â€" when a group was sent to the Virginia Colony â€" and 1967, most of them from the late 19th century onwards.

After 1920, most of the children went to Australia through programs run by the government, religious groups and children's charities."

Someone's overcompensating for his past... ;-D

    FROM THE ARTICLE:

"A photograph of the Iranian president holding up his identity card during elections in March 2008 clearly shows his family has Jewish roots.

A close-up of the document reveals he was previously known as Sabourjian - a Jewish name meaning cloth weaver."

The other day, the latest Radical Left Stumbler to give me a Thumbs Down Rating made the unsupported assertion that the Left doesn't want to censor me, but "Would like actual discussion and not the nonsense your boys Limbaugh and Beck like to spew in lieu of discourse."

    Really???

Well you can read my reply to this drivel "here", and then I suggest you read this story out of Nevada, about Senator Harry Reid, the Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate...

    FROM THE STORY:

"On Wednesday, before he addressed a Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Reid joined the chamber's board members for a meet-'n'-greet and a photo. One of the last in line was the Review-Journal's director of advertising, Bob Brown, a hard-working Nevadan who toils every day on behalf of advertisers. He has nothing to do with news coverage or the opinion pages of the Review-Journal.

Yet, as Bob shook hands with our senior U.S. senator in what should have been nothing but a gracious business setting, Reid said: "I hope you go out of business."

Later, in his public speech, Reid said he wanted to let everyone know that he wants the Review-Journal to continue selling advertising because the Las Vegas Sun is delivered inside the Review-Journal.

    Such behavior cannot go unchallenged.

You could call Reid's remark ugly and be right. It certainly was boorish. Asinine? That goes without saying."

    I rest my case....

Can Liberal & Conservative takes on the news of the day co-exist on the same website?

Of course they can, and Left Right News is a 3 year old site that is among those proving it.

One of the folks involved tells me that the "site is not for any particular political point of view as we take them all (I'm a libertarian myself)"

Billing itself as an Aggregator of "News & Commentary for Liberals, Conservatives & Kooks", the site provides news stories, and opinion, from a variety of sources including top Liberal, Libertarian, and Conservative, Blogs.

    The website has 3 Goals:

    1. Pursuade fellow news junkie types to read our headlines at least once a day.

    2. Convince you with the best news content to Bookmark us.

    3. Show you things that you'll share with your friends through IM or eMail.

You can submit a news story for consideration, with the title, URL, and either an excerpt, or your own brief description.

Submission does not guarantee acceptance, and that's to be expected, but the process is simple. I know...I submitted something just to see how the process worked. ;-D

As part of something called Talk the Talk, the site also "publishes Opinion Editorials from both freelance writers getting through graduate school as well as national personalities who make their living with their written commentary."

If you would like to publish your work or have been invited to do so, there is a way for you to do so.

I found the site very interesting, and informative, and the subjects covered, and perspectives shared, varied.

Oh, and if that doesn't convince you of the worth of their effort, then consider this bragging point, current as of this writing: "So far in April, we've beat Drudge to the story 8 times!"

Agree, or disagree, with what you find here, that last bit alone should convince you to stop by from time to time. ;-D

    Michelle says it well:

""Parasites?" New media sources including blogs and Twitter increasingly provide original content and news-breaking ahead of the newspapers. Their commentary and analysis on everything from the war to the financial meltdown are often ahead of the curve and more informative. They have threatened the dinosaur monopoly, and now the MSM needs a Google rescue plan."

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother still reading the LA Times, and Orange County Register, it sure ain't for the major news stories.

Both seem to do best with stories that have less to do with the story of the day or week, local stories, and the like.

    A very provocative, thought-provoking, story.

This speech is liable to piss people off on all sides of the discussion of race in America, for one reason or another, but if it gets people talking about the issues it brings up then Holder will have accomplished some good with it.

    FROM THE ARTICLE:

"From Maine to Idaho law enforcement officials are seeing more against Barack Obama than ever before. The Secret Service would not comment or provide the number of cases they are investigating. But since the Nov. 4 election, law enforcement officials have seen more potentially threatening writings, Internet postings and other activity directed at Obama than has been seen with any past president-elect, said officials aware of the situation who spoke on condition of anonymity because the issue of a president's security is so sensitive."

    Most Conservatives condemn this idiocy.

We have many serious, valid, documented concerns about The President-Elect, the policies he wants to impliment, and the people he is bringing into his government...BUT WE DO NOT WISH FOR THE HARM OF THE FUTURE LEADER OF OUR BELOVED NATION...so no matter how much Liberals, and the Far Left may wish to lump El Rushbo, Hannity, Ingraham, Coulter, FOX News, and all the rest, and those of us who read, and listen to them in with the Kooks and disturbed...it isn't the truth, and such rantings on their part only serve to focus attention on their own radicalism, and hate.

I'm not the most religious guy on the planet, but this song, matched with images of the candidate, express quite nicely the important message of being a maverick, and a reformer, that is her backround, and the challenge to the status quo of DC, that is the McCain/Palin Ticket.
