    Oh WOW!

Melanie Phillips has written an absolutely brilliant essay that should be MUST READING for all Freedom Loving people.

    As she writes:

"As communism slowly crumbled, those on the far-Left who remained hostile towards western civilisation found another way to realise their goal of bringing it down.

This was what might be called 'cultural Marxism'. It was based on the understanding that what holds a society together are the pillars of its culture: the structures and institutions of education, family, law, media and religion. Transform the principles that these embody and you can thus destroy the society they have shaped.

This key insight was developed in particular by an Italian Marxist philosopher called Antonio Gramsci. His thinking was taken up by Sixties radicals - who are, of course, the generation that holds power in the West today.

Gramsci understood that the working class would never rise up to seize the levers of 'production, distribution and exchange' as communism had prophesied. Economics was not the path to revolution.

He believed instead that society could be overthrown if the values underpinning it could be turned into their antithesis: if its core principles were replaced by those of groups who were considered to be outsiders or who actively transgressed the moral codes of that society.

So he advocated a 'long march through the institutions' to capture the citadels of the culture and turn them into a collective fifth column, undermining from within and turning all the core values of society upside-down and inside-out.

This strategy has been carried out to the letter."

The White House holds a Classical Music Day, as students took part in workshops and performed two concerts.

Now THIS is something Obama has done that this Conservative can support.

I played the Violin from age 10 to age 18, in school orchestras, and developed my love of Classical Music from the experience, never developing a taste for what passed for popular musical forms among my peers of the 70's, and 80's. ;-D

    FROM THE PIECE:

"Classical music took over the White House on Wednesday as Barack and Michelle Obama used two concerts and a series of workshops for young musicians to send a clear message that the music of the masters isn't just for stuffed shirts.

The president told the audience at an evening concert in the East Room that classical music is "lifting hearts and spurring imaginations" all across the nation, and is something to be enjoyed by aficionados and the uninitiated alike.

The concert featured some of today's most important young and vibrant classical musicians."

    Bravo!

Both an essay on Politics, and one on Edumication, this is a very powerful Call to Arms.

    FROM THE PIECE:

"Ever since the left wing captured the universities and media, putative conservatives desiring media favor and intellectual respectability have been apologizing for conservatism's most popular and effective figures. These days, they want to distance themselves from the "anger" and "extremism" of such personalities as Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh.

What they ought to be doing instead is taking lessons from Beck as he lectures in front of a blackboard, a fitting symbol for what has gone wrong. Conservatism is rising, and we have the intellectual and historical high ground."

Thumbs Up only because everyone needs to be aware of this insanity.

2 books on the recommended reading list of the National Education Association, were written by Radical Leftist Saul Alinsky.

This should bother every parent of school age children in America.

The National Education Association needs to be defunded now.

The American people need to take back our schools and education system from the Leftists/ Marxists/Socialists.

A wonderful program that has as its aim the empowerment of people with disabilities to play golf:

As the site decribes this 19 year old program:

"B.I.O.N.I.C. Golf (Believe It Or Not, I Can) was created under the belief that golf is a journey. Golf is a physical challenge and a test of mental and emotional control. The program is designed to help people understand that each personal struggle with golf, much like obstacles in everyday life, is a circumstance that can be overcome with dedication and positive reinforcement.

Martha Sue's goal is to fill the greens by helping people have fun with golf no matter their physical disability and instilling in them the "I Can" attitude...

Provides instruction to people with disabilities so they can enjoy an active lifestyle while overcoming their physical and mental challenges...

Finding alternative ways to affectively swing a golf club according to the specific physical disability."

This was a speech that, if Thomas Sowell, or Bill Cosby, had given a variation of it, would have had many on the Left finding fault with it.

Aside from the fact it is as much about Obama (Inaccurately in some places, as commentors point out), as about edumication, and staying in skool, it IS a very nice speech with important messages to kids.

    Read the whole speech....

    FROM THE ARTICLE:

"I think the White House and Obama fouled this up from the beginning, making it look much more political than necessary, and gave their critics a boatload of ammunition with which to attack them.

The speech turned out to be entirely innocuous. But by asking teachers to impress upon children the need to "help President Obama," they made it look blatantly political. They seem to have forgotten that they're the public servants, and that the people do not live to serve political masters.

As Frank Wilson puts it in another context, Americans see themselves as citizens, not subjects, with the President only of a higher rank for the temporary period of time that we put him there.

This has been incompetently handled from beginning to end, including the highly embarrassing scheduling that inadvertently excluded millions of students from the speech.

Ironically, the most controversial part of the speech may be its closing, when Obama invokes the Creator in asking God to bless America.

Will the atheist activists let that slide?"

Your kids: Political Guinea Pigs For Change!

    FROM THE STORY:

"According to White House event-related guides developed by the U.S. Department of Education's Teaching Fellows, grade-school students will be told to "listen to the speech" and "could think about the following:"

*What is the President trying to tell me?

*What is the President asking me to do?

*What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?

    * Students can record important parts of the speech where the President is asking them to do something. Students might think about: What specific job is he asking me to do? Is he asking anything of anyone else? Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people?

After the speech, teachers will ask students:

*What do you think the President wants us to do?

*Does the speech make you want to do anything?

*Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us?

This is disturbing on so many levels, and similar activities are planned for students up thru 12th Grade.
