Have to try this soon. :)
I like the table of earnings in the bottom, although it looks like a lot of work actually, it is encouraging. I've tried paid-to-write sites before, and got discouraged because I was earning mere pennies from each article. Eventually I gave up thinking I'm just not cut out for it. But the key seems to be in quantity.
Wonderfully simple tutorial on how to create your own WordPress themes. I've been avoiding learning this for years, I used to do all my layouts in HTML before WordPress became the thing to use... Now I'm back to where I started from - creating my own layouts... My website feels my own again! All I need is a few more edits and I can upload it on a live site. :)
I can't believe this hasn't been stumbled yet. Ever heard a parent going into a complete rant mode about all the hardships of it, when they suddenly realized what they just said and try to erase it with: "Oh but it's so worth it in the end!"
Love this young artists' jewellery!
A campaign started to collect funds for charities around the world by restoring Barbie dolls.
A book about being childless by choice. Tackling all the most common reasons for having children one by one, giving the childfree people a chance to organize their thoughts on the matter.
This "enlightened debate" about Barbie's figure and influence on women's body image and self-esteem is really getting old. At least the writer noted that the body has been changed... BUT not in order to make women feel better. It was changed, so that she would better display FASHION, she is a Fashion doll after all. What the articles always manage to overlook is the fact that when you're the size of Barbie, everything you wear is BULKY. In 1950's, when the doll was created, women wore skirts, with tons of seams on the waist line. If she would have had the average woman's body, she would have looked like she'd had massive love handles. In the 2000's when the body was reshaped, women wear sort tops and low cut jeans. The waist can no longer be curved in, and it doesn't have to be. And by this stage it has become apparent that real women have less sense than the empty headed Barbie does.
The official blog of theBdoll.com which is an online community for Barbie hobbyists. Sharing tips and thoughts and what not about Barbie-dolls.
I wonder how long it takes criminals and stalkers to catch on with social media. It's good to know when you're out shopping - because you won't be in your house to protect it. For a stalker, the advantages are even greater. Oh the evil things one could do...
A project aiming to make an ID card for as many Barbie dolls as possible, to create a searchable database of Barbies for identification.
I haven't made many websites for other people, but this is sooo aligned with my experience that I decided I would definitely NOT pursue that career path. It is the most frustrating thing you can go through, when people who have gotten used to websites the way they were back in 1995 insist that their websites remain within those specs and still look modern or what ever impossible combination they come up with. Once, a client requested a website that would look NOTHING LIKE their competitors site. Okay, I design a site, they approve it - it's great - then they come back to me asking that could the site be more like this - 'this' being, you guessed it, the competitors site that they wanted to look nothing alike! I told them "sure, but you do realise you have to pay me for the new design too?" You guessed it, they didn't.
I just bought this tool a while ago, and this is by far the best value for money I think I've ever gotten. 9 dollar tool that will save you hundreds in vet bills if you have to get the dog sedated for tooth cleaning. Extremely easy if your dog isn't too concerned about the procedure.
A Finnish made competitor for the Wii. Works with a simple ball, no buttons to push - and can even be connected to your PC.
Uh. What a HORRIBLE site. Being childfree myself, I fear this sort of junk is quite bad for our reputation... Probably the ugliest design I've seen since 1995 and the language used on the site... The operator of this site certainly doesn't need kids, seems like he's one himself. (Assuming it's a he.) How I found this? Through a spam comment on my blog, what a surprise!
I can't believe it wasn't that long ago when people still insisted it as a fact, that animals don't have emotions, and they only hang around you because you feed them. This is lovely... :)
WOW! Studies show that one third of people who have children regret having them to some degree. On the other hand, there is no wide spread regret of a decision on NOT TO have children amongst the childless by choice.
Why is it called "wag world" if it only shows/allows places in USA? I do hate it when americans think they are the whole freaking world...
Why has this been stumbled? A poor rating with no real message. Bah! Away!
