Plenty 20 - EnviroFit International
Rated • 1 review • asia, climate change, clean technology, video, energy efficiency • youtube.com
What I've been working on lately...
Envirofit is a team of engineers and entrepreneurs commercializing technologies that reduce pollution and promote energy efficiency at the base of the world's economic pyramid. Envirofit's approach begins with an active stakeholder dialogue to refine their technology development and dissemination strategies; it ends with technical assistance and capacity building to enable local partners to implement Envirofit's solutions long after they have left.
Envirofit's first product is a retrofit kit for two-stoke motorcycle engines that significantly improves fuel efficiency and reduces emissions. Commonly used to power taxis throughout cities in Asia, two-stroke engines are one of the largest sources of vehicular emissions in the world. Envirofit has engaged in extensive field testing and market development in the Philippines and is now beginning to sell the retrofit kit in this market. No interest loans provided by the city governments are helping to spur adoption. Envirofit now seeks to expand its funding base as it transitions into the commercialization phase in the Philippine market, plans to replicate this project in new markets throughout Asia, and begins field and lab tests of several new technologies.
In just three short years, Envirofit's technologies and approach are already demonstrating potential for significant results in terms of job creation, income levels, environmental health, and ambient air quality. And with a clear plan in place for expansion and long-term financial self-sufficiency, we believe this is just the beginning.

THIS IS A GREAT ORGANIZATION (I KNOW THE PEOPLE INVOLVED). THEY ARE TRYING TO RAISE $4000 ASAP -- OTHERWISE GIRLS WILL HAVE TO BE TURNED AWAY!!
Camp GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) began in Romania in 1995. Due to the success of the first camp, and the worldwide need for programs that support the specific educational and motional needs of young women, the camp has continued to grow and develop internationally. Camp GLOW can be found everywhere from Uzbekistan to Namibia, and also Bulgaria, where the first Camp GLOW was held in 2000.
This year 80 young Bulgarian women will participate in Camp GLOW as both campers and counselors. Fifty-five of the participants will be campers who are experiencing Camp GLOW for the first time. The other 25 participants will be former campers who are now returning to Camp GLOW as camp counselors and leaders.
Camp GLOW is held in Bulgariaâ€s former capital, Veliko Turnovo. Peace Corps Volunteers work together with two local non-profit organizationsâ€"The Open Door Resource Center and the GLOW NGOâ€"to plan and implement Camp GLOW.

Good Capital

Good Capital (â€oeGoodCap”) will join the work of its principals and partners in merchant banking, asset consulting, business development, network development and market formationâ€"to speed the flow of â€oegood capital” between investors and enterprises.
GoodCap is needed now because of a deep and significant shift in investor demand. There is a new appetite for blended value investments; those that do good while doing well, often within a new risk/return paradigm. In this emerging market, GoodCap is uniquely positioned to help accelerate the flow of capital to the field. -

Though I'm a borderline vegan, I'm not an active animal rights activist nor a card carrying member of PETA (or of any other activist groups). But come ON folks! Rule number one: KNOW YOUR SOURCE. The "Center for Consumer Freedom" is an industry-backed non-profit group.

Looks like CCF has apparently also campaigned against MADD. How charming! So, apparently people have the right to get drunk and kill people with their cars? Let freedom ring...
