"One of humanity’s prime drives is to understand and be understood.
All other living creatures are designed for highly specialized tasks.
Man seems unique as the comprehensive comprehender and co-ordinator
of local universe affairs. If the total scheme of nature required man
to be a specialist she would have made him so by having him born
with one eye and a microscope attached to it.

      Bucky's priceless futurism (i.e. no sci-fi) from our near-past,
projected into our present, opening the way
      to countless positive possibilities,
that still lay ahead of us

the only way forward is to grow.
the only way to grow is to expand beyond the boundaries
of what we know into uncharted areas of the unknown,
the unknown being the only source of new knowledge.

old barriers fall away, ancient pillars crumble
and new structures stand up in their turn.
one generation gives birth to the next,
the old gives life to the new.

we live in the ever transitional moment
      connecting past through present
      to future.

it is our mission to discover the ever changing horizon,
to continually re-establish new parameters and to explore
and secure each new level as we find it.

it is our purpose to destroy the inertia that has been responsible
for the demise of the life force on our planet.

it is our aim to positively motivate the people & the nation.
it is time to wake the planet up!

the advance party, using state of the art digital technology
combined with the organic life system delivers a massive jolt
to human sensory circuits, providing the extra energy input
needed to make the quantum leap from terrestrial
      to extra-terrestrial consciousness.

Psynopsis Psychedelicae Hollandicae - Psytrance in the Neverlands

      Green lowlands behind the dikes
famed for the manipulation of cheese, tulips and skunk, and for the works of Dutch masters like Rembrandt, Van Gogh, GMS, Gullit and Van Basten; populated aeons ago by Kelts from the West, Franks from the North and Romans from the South of Europe; growing more multiculti ever since, enriched by many other precipitated dust particles gathering from all corners of the galaxy.

Aliens and other visitors are cordially advised to drop by the Hoge Veluwe national parc in Drenthe, the cheesemarket in the city of Gouda, and the oldest coffeeshop around, Sarasani (located at Oudegracht 327 in Utrecht, since 1968). *

      first words i wrote for an introduction to the dutch psytrance scene. part of this text and of paragraphs to follow have been published in the 2004 & 2005 editions of the "Trancer's Guide to the Galaxy", a magazine dedicated to psychedelic trance culture on this planet, initiated and spread across the globe by Mushroom Magazine and Chaishop. a few details have been brought up to date;

      Autechre - The Anti E.P.

      Autechre - Anti EP (1994)

another critical yet artistic response to the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 (United Kingdom) was made by Autechre on their Anti EP. it was released with the following disclaimer:

Warning. Lost and Djarum contain repetitive beats.
We advise you not to play these tracks if the Criminal Justice Bill becomes law. Flutter has been programmed in such a way that no bars contain identical beats and can therefore be played at both forty five and thirty three revolutions under the proposed new law. However we advise DJs to have a lawyer and musicologist present at all times to confirm the non repetitive nature of the music in the event of police harrassment.

      Important.
By breaking this seal, you accept full responsibilty for any consequential action resulting from the product's use, as playing the music contained within these recordings may be interpreted as oppostion to the Criminal Justice and Public Order Bill.

How can the government stop young people having a good time? Fight this bollocks!
this painting by Les Edwards came as a poster with the second album of The Prodigy,
Music for the Jilted Generation, which also featured the track Their Law and the quote
"How can the government stop young people having a good time? Fight this bollocks!"
in a critical response to the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 (United Kingdom).

this act contains sections that gave the police a weapon in their newly born battle
against the spontaneous gathering of people to dance in non-traditional places.
this is referred to as a rave and defined as "a gathering of 100+ people, at which
amplified music (wholly or predominantly characterised by the emission of a
succession of repetitive beats) is played which is likely to cause serious
distress to the local community, in the open air and at night.
      "
