Part of the birthing pains.
One of my favorite bands ever. If you like gritty, soul moving, blues rock, you should definitely check them out.
mmm. I love this song.
Maria is a thoughtful & sincere person, a deep well of inspiration and beauty, and those things shine through her blog like rays of autumn sunlight blissfully warming the skin.
I have much love for Neva. She has the ability to pour her heart into a cup that nourishes anyone who is fortunate enough to partake. She makes us feel her through her words; the telling sign of a truly gifted artist. She is perceptive, and deep, and real. We are not of the same blood, and yet, she is my sister.
Wow, this is such sad news to hear. Im lucky that I just got started here a little less than a year ago and have relatively little time invested in my blog so that mostly what I will miss are the friends Ive made here who will be leaving now because of these changes. I feel so bad for those of you who have spent so much time and effort creating such beautiful blogs only to see them torn down. The staff of SU is making a huge mistake.
Everything about this song just moves me viscerally.
I am a Christian, but in no way the bible thumper, hell and damnation shouting sort. I believe in otherwordly things, and my interests very often reflect that and may have left you with the wrong impression. I wont apologize for that because I am just here, being me. I rely strongly upon my intuiton and insight and for a while now Ive been feeling the same changes alot of you probably have. Huge flocks of birds dropping from the sky, bizarre weather and atomospheric events, earths poles shifting ever so slightly etc have been in the news enough to make anyone scratch their heads in wonder. Strange things have been happening to me personally, mostly small things, some of them odd dreams, and maybe even insignifcant, but theyve been enough to get my attention. Last night a bat flew into my house and refused to leave of his own accord. I think his 'radar' was picking up something that I wasnt yet aware of, that he was blipping on something besides a bug because today at around 2pm (EST) I felt the earth tremble, my neighbor called saying he'd felt it too, and shortly after speaking to him I learned that there was apparently an eartquake in Virgina. I know, small beans. But its just one of too many for me not to ponder on my life, yet again. Change coming like birthing pains, events happening closer and closer together, and getting stronger and stronger. This article says it all, for me, and I decided today, that I was going to share it.
"What I say to one, I say to all; watch." (Mark 13: 37)
I am not from here,
my hair smells of the wind
and is full of constellations,
and I move about this world
with a healthy disbelief.
Back to the forest, to the wheat fields, to the river, to the ocean. I go where the wind is.

A six month journey along the 2,200 mile long Appalachian Trail, condensed and reinterpreted into five minutes of stop-motion.
In the middle of the journey of our life I came to myself within a dark wood where the straight way was lost.

'The Wiz' is one of the most insightful people Ive ever met. He's both a gifted soul-reader & a wise adviser (though I doubt he'd ever claim to be either!) He's also a great friend- always honest, kind, and funny- he never fails to leave me smiling.
Memory comes when memory's old,
I am never the first to know
Following the stream up North,
Where do people like us float
There is room in my lap
For bruises, asses, hand claps
I will never disappear,
For forever I'll be here
Whispering
Morning, keep the streets empty for me
I'm laying down, eating snow
My fur is hot, my tongue is cold
On a bed of spider web,
I think of how to change myself
A lot of hope in a one man tent
There's no room for innocence
So take me home before the storm
Velvet moths will keep us warm
Whispering
Morning, keep the streets empty for me
Uncover our heads & reveal our souls
We were hungry before we were born
Diverse, complex, intelligent, and fun- but that simple description doesnt cover much ground- his blog, a tiny window into his soul, has, from the moment I first came across it, left me stumbling drunkenly away, filled with all kinds of exciting thoughts & emotions. And the person himself- even more amazing. An entire continent lies between us, but a great, lasting friendship has taken root here nonetheless.

Enjoying a lazy, rainy day
Alone, in serenity, we transform.
