I started Retro Thing in 2005 in response to sites like Gizmodo and Endgadget, which provide a daily onslaught of dozens of almost identical mobile phones, computers and shiny gadgets.

Vintage devices are often available for a tiny fraction of what they sold for new, and they still offer hours of fun. My first deliberately retro purchase was a Super 8 camera, but I'm also a huge fan of vintage 8-bit video game consoles, classic tube-based hi-fi, and even typewriters.
