I used to work as a chimney sweep. I would take care of the 'upper' end, ascending the roof and running the brushes up and down the flue on poles after brother had gone inside to chat with the lady of the house and tape off the stove openings. I would scramble down and tie the ladders back on the van while he was still vacuuming and sweeping up tarry cinders on the hearth. While waiting nearby to re-assemble the stove and carry out tools, my eyes would invariably drift toward the family bookcase. Who were these people? What did they find of interest? So now, years later, here is a delightful opportunity, to indulge in a virtual form of that very kind of voyeurism, and better yet, to shamelessly expose your own.
