Several months ago i backed away from SU almost entirely because it was a busy time offline, but also because it was starting to feel like myspace. I was landing on stumbler pages so styled up they crashed my browser and sometimes froze my whole computer. I was getting fewer messages from friends than from creeps who 'liked my profile, thought we could be friends,' and offered email addresses for me to write to from my email address (phishing for addresses to spam).
I've been back sporadically since then to post a few offerings but haven't had the heart to look around.
Today i've poked around a little, while leaving all my groups. Page reviews still pimp their discoverers like something between a game show contestant and a wet t-shirt contestant. I feel slimed when i see it, and have stopped putting myself into that space. (But then, i also don't consider television gestalt to be normal.)
I regret but understand that SU is doing what it calculates is best for SU, perhaps correctly. Modern business, you know.
There probably won't be anything new here, unless you are.
