    I have one of these cute little gals living in my crepe myrtle. It is a spiny orb weaver spider, Gasteracantha Cancriformis. I guess they are as common as dirt, in the South, but I'd never seen one before.

    Hand-knit teddy bears for aids orphans and rape victims in Africa and Haiti.. I love the idea. Normally I am very careful to spend my charity dollar on very practical services, where I feel I get the most bang for my grossly-insufficient bucks, but in nations where toys are made by families, a child with no family has no toy. A made with love and prayer cuddle-bear to an abused child who has nothing can be as important to her health as a good meal, and it lasts longer.
