DD and I were discussing the moving "Atlas Shrugged" this evening and both agreed that Patricia Neal was a wonderful and sadly underrated actress. This lead us to question whether she were still alive which led to this discovery.
If you know nothing of her personal life you may be surprised to learn at age 39 she suffered a series of three strokes during childbirth and was pronounced dead in newspapers nationwide. She most definitely proved them wrong, undergoing extensive surgery then fighting long and hard to regain the ability to live her life fully.
I didn't know that this lead her to establish a rehabilitation center at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in her native home of Knoxville, TN. All the more reason to admire this wonderful actress and truly fine human being.
