I'm partly hopeful about Rory Stewart entering parliament, but equally suspicious...
Maybe this commenter is wrong? "(H)e is another Old Etonian. He is so stereotypical you could find uncannily similar examples at any point in our history over the last three centuries. Lots of dashing photogenic glamour, foreign travel, a talent for networking, and self-presentation yada yada, but nothing new there at all.
There have been dozens of people who presented themselves to us in the same way, from Fred Burnaby to Raymond Asquith to Bruce Chatwin. Some of them, like T.E. Lawrence were very talented. But the idea that such creatures will rescue us from our political mess is insane.
He has never had to struggle for anything in his life and has been richly rewarded for the few things he has so far achieved. And it will go on like that: you can bet that anything he writes or says will be hailed as superlative simply because of who he is.
Anybody who argues that this privileged person represents a step forward in the UK really does lead a rich fantasy life. We have a Parliament and for that matter a media profession stuffed to the rafters with the well connected, cosmopolitan products of private schools and Oxbridge and look where that has got us: we have slowly but steadily turned into a bankrupt police state."
And what is his connection to MI6?
