I think the problem with this post is the sentence, "This is what Art should be, I decided." Art can't be reduced like that. You can say that that's the kind you prefer, but you can't say that Art should or shouldn't be anything.

A novel is about more than just the plot and the characters. Just as a novel can be distinguished by its language, Pollack's painting is distinguished by its usage of color and space.

Instead of thinking about how much you think Pollack sucks, you might want to think about why Pollack, who was a masterful conventional painter would choose to paint the way he did. It wasn't because it was easier.
