This is a wonderful illustration of just how slow and incompetent the government is at doing anything that anyone in the private sector free market would handle much better. People need to learn to stop worshipping government and realize that bureaucracy and central planning(communism) can't do anything effectively.
Remember shortly after 9/11 when people were saying that "if we give up our liberty the terrorists win". It's amusing how easily led people are.
For those of you brainwashed by the big media, the union propoganda against wal mart, and your wonderful institutions of lower learning called government schools, here's a little truth serum up your socialist asses.
You people who demonize wal mart...You're just a bunch of fascist pigs. Nah, actually to be kinder, some of you are. The rest of you are just simply misguided by the mainstream propoganda and don't know any better. Words like capitalism, profits, and consumerism have sadly become dirty words in our society and it's only because America has been slowly descending into collectivism and the American people by and large have become socialists and communists and don't even realize it..or worse yet, they don't even care.
You know, I really don't blame foreigners anymore when they make fun of Americans as being stupid. There's a reason for it. We Americans have become dumbed down and ignorant. I'm so sick of the sheeple out there getting their panties in a bunch over all the alleged horrors of greedy corporations seeking profits and capitalism run amuk. As much time as people devote to focusing on big businesses, I wish they would devote that same time twofolds to the government. That's the real monopoly, the real evil entity you need to keep an eye on. If you didn't have all this big government then you wouldn't be having problems with big businesses cozying up to the government for political favors and protections. You're focusing on the wrong thing as the scapegoat. It's government....stupid!
I also don't understand people who even bitch and moan about the good things capitalism brings us like..... oh, all these choices, life is more complicated, all the excess and conveniences and consumerism....oh, the horror! I tell you what, go back in time you simpletons and live in the old Soviet Union where you can live a simple, yet depressing life where you have to wait in line for your vodka. God, get me a gun already so I can blow myself away. This world is just driving me insane. People just don't even like liberty anymore. Disgusting!
Let me add a little caveat here. I don't have a problem with people honestly pointing out and criticising bad things about various businesses and boycotting or whatever. That's all fine. That's the marketplace working. I just have a problem with unions and other businesses who can't take the heat of the competition putting out false propoganda because they want to hurt a business that is having more success than them and thus want the government to come in and hurt their competition. Then people just lap up that propoganda and turn this into some socialist class warfare where somehow the "little guys" are good and the big guys are evil and we should hate capitalism and ask for government to crack down on it. So much of the bad things said about walmart are also uncalled for and are down right lies and half-truths. The so-called poor treatment of their employees blah blah blah. Nevermind they don't have to work there anyway. Nevermind that the real slave holder is the government, not these businesses, but no government is to be worshipped and we're to distrust the business world like the good little Marxists we are. Good little government citizens out there, go ahead and keep bending over. You apparently really like taking it in the ass except this won't be a one night stand. The government will be there when you wake up and oh baby, it will have its chain and ball and its whip, but it won't be pleasureful.
"A cop gets called to the scene after Massachusetts tourists witness Dave Ridley practicing his open-carrying rights (which is legal in NH) and called the police. Cop turns out to be from Dave's home country, and they converse for a while before the cop leaves the scene."
Conversely, here's the wiki page detailing the libertarian philosophy in whole with many links for further research at your disposal. There are other branches of libertarianism you can look into. Unlike the left and right, they are espousing true liberty and you can say what you want about them, but their philosophy is much better than the vile nonsense coming from the left and right who want to control you. I don't particularly like the Ayn Rand objectivists arguments against libertarians either. One area in which I part from the objectivists on is their hawkish, imperialistic stance they seem to take on foreign policy. They seem to display a tendency to want to justify foreign interventionism abroad against perceived threats in the name of protecting our liberty at home. I'm sorry, but it is this paranoid interventionism that has gotten us into so much trouble in the first place.
I don't agree with much of the criticisms of libertarianism at this web page for I am a libertarian myself. However, this does provide good insight for knowing what the counterpoint arguments are against libertarianism from other viewpoints. Most of the criticism is flawed and misguided in my opinion, but there are some legitimate arguments that merit looking into further and perhaps refining the philosophy espoused by us libertarians. This wiki page just provides a good insight into some of the hesitations against the libertarianism philosophy and although I consider myself a libertarian I concede that we "libertarians" are sometimes a little guilty of over simplifying things and being a little too utopian so we need to strengthen our arguments.
The leftist and righty arguments against libertarianism on that page, blow as far as I'm concerned, but some of the other arguments on that page do warrant looking further into and are food for thought. Although I'm a libertarian, I'm not an anarchist, at least not yet anyway. I would consider myself as being more of a minarchist who is open to the idea of "anarchy" in the distant future. The only question is whether anarchy can work on a large scale. There have been anecdotal examples in world history where it actually has worked on a small scale. I hate the left and right and though there may seem to be some weak chinks in the armor of libertarianism per se, that certainly doesn't justify the left or right being any better. Libertarianism as a philosophy is really the best thing going and we can quibble about whether there should be a minimalist government or no government at all, but the bottom line is we're working towards the same thing, liberty, and we should work together to get government out of our lives as much as possible, however far that will take us is another thing. Those on the left and right are both fascist collectivists who want to control you. We need to strive for a world where there is as much liberty as possible and as much individual soverignty as possible where people are free to achieve as much as possible to make the world a better place as long as they aren't infringing upon others "individual rights".
Mwwaahhahaha Take your Kyoto protocols and shove em up your ass. Here's a hit piece with a good attempt at debunking some of the global warming nonsense perpetuated by the anti-private property, anti-capitalism zealots underlying this movement. This global warming scare is a classic example of the "Big Lie" working perfectly well. You get the schools(predominantly public schools), uneducated teachers, the big media, governments, and government funded and politicized scientists with their half-truths and faulty climate models constantly repeating this crap enough times like it's gospel and then you wind up getting the vast majority of the human population believing it, running around like a bunch of chicken littles. Mommy government please save me!
Now,don't get me wrong. I care about the environment just as much as the next guy. I like nature. I like beautiful weather. I like animals, but so much of this macro-level environmentalism is seeded in so much misinformation that they're just scaring people into wanting the government to just "do something" to save them. This whole movement is also originally founded by these groups who wanted to use environmentalism as a "religious" issue to backdoor their fabian socialism into America.
I swear, we're a nation of nervous nellies and act as if everything in this world is out to get us and we need government to protect us from everything. Oh yeah, both the left and right are equally guilty of exploiting that. So with environmentalism like with everything else, we cry for the government to take control of our lives and intervene in industry and the economy in the name of saving us from some boogeyman. You think the government can save you anyway? Government can't do crap.
If you look into it, you will see that it is actually the government that is the biggest polluter, not businesses. If you want to protect the environment, you would be much better served by encouraging private property rights and the free market to take better care of the land. I know, there are a lot of you out there who will dismiss that out of hand. This anti-business hysteria and fears of evil profit driven people has become so ingrained in our society. Well, don't just believe me OR dismiss me. Do the research. Read a little Murray Rothbard ;-)
It's a war on terrorism. It's a war on immigration. It's a war on global warming. It's a war on poverty. It's a war on drugs. It's a war on illiteracy. It's a war on communism. It's a war on guns. It's a war on cigarettes. Hell, let's just start a war on ourselves while we're at it. Government protect me from myself! God what a pathetic species we've turned out to be in spite of our successes. We probably won't make it. We'll probably go into the waste bin of extinction and it will be thanks to government and religion. Over and out!
