Well, it seems a mite early, but if his speech at the UN mirrors his intent and future action at all, which i personally believe it will, then i think he deserves it.

The prize will confer on him a level of credibility he may need to earn it in retrospect. He seems genuinely interested in shutting down or at least softening the Palestinian Israeli madness.

You should watch that speech if you haven't he managed to get the Israelis and the Palestinians to applaud, not much I admit, but it's something.

  • Murder sparks demands for chemical castration...

Rated Oct 05 5 reviews crime, news, witch hunt, civil rights independent.co.uk

This is so much bullshit. This is just the governments of the world finding a way to save money, making it ok to let criminals they know are dangerous out too early, but too expensive to hang on to.

If this catches on in Europe, especially France, expect to see a return of the death penalty, and not a long winded expensive version like ours.

    Why? Because...

Vengeance is never enough. People are angry about death and loss, and most importantly powerlessness. There is NOTHING they can do to undo the murder, the rape, the pain, the fear, and so to balance it out they want to torture the murderer, to "make him pay," but think of how stupid that is.

What if we tortured him first? What if we got our money up front? Made him wait the whatever years in prison, AND chemically castrated him, would he then have to right to kill and kidnap a person with impunity? No? Why not, he "paid" for it?

You know why, because you can't actually or ethically pay for something like that, it's like destroying the Mona Lisa, a life is priceless, or put another way it has an infinite price.

"Manuel da Cruz, 47, had already been sentenced to 11 years in prison for the kidnap and rape of a 13-year- old girl in 2002."

Their also feeling guilty because they probably put heroin dealers away for longer than they put this guy, ignored his pleas for safety and indeed probably encouraged his brutalization, which just gave him confidence and extra rage when they finally did let him out.

Our systemic greed and ignorance manufactures situations like this everywhere, even if I am wrong about the details in this instance.

Why does it not bother anyone else that now TWO countries in Europe are starting to play with force sterilization? What's it going o take? Camps? Some asshole with a stupid mustache? Well if you have Christians in your country I know book burning has already happened.

Whether or not they "deserve" it is irrelevant you ignorant apple tossing primates.

    Anyway...

Mixed feelings on this one. tired of the pedo witchhunt, but at the same time this is Poland, I don't know the cultural situation there, I don't know if pedos are being manufactured there as they are in the states.

Further I know that many sex offenders have asked for chemical castration, some even going so far as to geld themselves.

I often thought about the desirability of temporary chemical libido killers. I wrote an essay about it called the off switch.

I would suggest to avoid the human rights issue that you offer chemical castration in exchange for shorter sentences or other considerations on exit, shorter parole times, less restrictive sex offender regulations, etc. Again I don't know the polish system well enough to really say much. But I'm not total against chemical castration being an option, even if forced thought the responsibility for correct application is almost as high as death penalty, especially if it's permanent.

    Responce Edit:
Personally, as I explained in my original review, the best way to include this would be as an option in exchange for reduced sentence. I'd personally have all sex offenders go through a whole separately trained parole process. Additionally in my view sex crime when the primary motivator for a crime is a healthcare issue, not a legal one.

Pedo hate is absurd to me. It's just another mental illness with two victims, and there are plenty of those.

It doesn't mean I love children less, it means I love people (and not incidentally my civil rights) more. So quit acting like I'm this ice god just because i don't go frothy at the mouth on command like some ignorant attack dog.
