"It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves." ~ Sir Edmund Hillary ~ "I've learned that everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it." Sonific SongSpot: Healing \ New Age

    Inspirer of my mind, consoler of my heart, healer of my spirit,
    Thy presence lifteth me from earth to heaven,
    Thy words flow as the sacred river,
    Thy thought riseth as a divine spring,
    Thy tender feelings waken sympathy in my heart.
    Beloved Teacher, Thy very being is forgiveness.
    The clouds of doubt and fear are scattered by Thy piercing glance.
    All ignorance vanishes in Thy illuminating presence.
    A new hope is born in my heart by breathing Thy peaceful atmosphere.
    O inspiring Guide through life´s puzzling ways,
    In Thee I feel abundance of blessing.
    Amen.

    Welcome:

    Thought for Today

    Today's Thought

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Living in Peace
    In order to live in peace,
    try not depending on anyone
    and at the same time
    try to help others not to depend on you.
    Help them become
    independent, free and responsible for their lives.
    In the same way,
    ensure you do not cause anyone any sorrow,
    and do not allow others to be a source of hurt for you.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Thoughts have great power,
    they are like seeds you plant in your mind.
    The more you hold onto a particular thought,
    the more power you invest in it.
    Positive thoughts give us energy and strength.
    Negative thoughts rob us of power
    and make us feel tired and strained.

    We are by nature positive.
    Negativity is the result of faulty thinking.
    You can change if you want to.
    You can't control other people,
    situation or circumstances,
    but you can control what is going on inside you.
    Be patient with yourself.

    It takes time to change and transform those old patterns of thinking.

    No matter where you are right now,
    you can start over ~ today.
    You have a choice to make.
    You can choose to keep making the same decisions
    and stay where you are,
    or you can choose to start over,
    and start making some changes
    that will move you closer to your dreams.

    It starts with a thought..... Today!

    Beijing to Moscow, 6,152 miles or so, better in summer you go, unlike Dr. Zhivago:

    The Trans-Siberian route is open all year round rain, shine or snowstorm.
    It might be a romantic idea to sail through mile after mile of snow engulfed
    landscapes in a warm and cozy cabin but as the temperature drops to -45 °C
    the logistics of actually getting off the train become a little more complex.

    Choosing summer means you get a chance to take a dip in the glorious Lake Baikal.
    A few hours drive and a ferry ride from Irkutsk lies the deepest fresh water lake
    in the country and one of PM Putin's favourite spots. According to Siberian legend
    if you submerge your head in the lake water you will live to be a hundred.

    What is the upside and downside of Nobel Prizes in present times?

    Venkatraman Ramakrishnan quite modestly
    answers this question in the following words:

    Do you think the Nobel prizes reward too few people?

    "This rule of three is a little unfortunate, and not reflective of the way
    science is done today. Science is no longer carried out by small
    numbers of people; science is now a hugely collaborative enterprise.
    So these awards tend to make it too much like a sporting event,
    and that is a slightly unfortunate downside."

    What is the upside?

    "It draws attention to scientific discoveries. But even then,
    after a couple of days no one on the street remembers
    what the prize was for, so there should be a more
    sustained effort to educate the public."

    Percy Bysshe Shelley's Hymn to Intellectual Beauty and Mont Blanc:

    Mont Blanc, Alpine massif, on the French-Italian border, South East of Geneva.

    One of its several peaks, also called Mont Blanc (15,771 ft / 4,807 m),
    is the highest peak in France and the second highest in Europe.
    The first successful ascent of Mont Blanc was made in 1786.

    In 1965 a highway tunnel (7.5 mi / 12.1 km long) under Mont Blanc,
    linking Chamonix with Courmayeur, Italy, was opened to traffic.
    It provides a short, year-round route between Paris and Rome,
    as well as a link between the Geneva region and Italy.

    It was closed as a result of a fire from 1999 to 2002.
    The tunnel is one of the longest vehicular tunnels in the world.

    ~ It's September ~

    Mt. Iwaki and apples

    It's September, and the orchards are afire with red and gold,
    And the nights with dew are heavy, and the morning's sharp with cold;
    Now the garden's at its gayest with the salvia blazing red
    And the good old-fashioned asters laughing at us from their bed;
    Once again in shoes and stockings are the children's little feet,
    And the dog now does his snoozing on the bright side of the street.

    Rice plants on the Niigata

    It's September, and the cornstalks are as high as they will go,
    And the red cheeks of the apples everywhere begin to show;
    Now the supper's scarcely over ere the darkness settles down
    And the moon looms big and yellow at the edges of the town;
    Oh, it's good to see the children, when their little prayers are said,
    Duck beneath the patchwork covers when they tumble into bed.

    Chusonji Temple

    It's September, and a calmness and a sweetness seem to fall
    Over everything that's living, just as though it hears the call
    Of Old Winter, trudging slowly, with his pack of ice and snow,
    In the distance over yonder, and it somehow seems as though
    Every tiny little blossom wants to look its very best
    When the frost shall bite its petals and it droops away to rest.

    Yahiko Shrine

    It's September! It's the fullness and the ripeness of the year;
    All the work of earth is finished, or the final tasks are near,
    But there is no doleful wailing; every living thing that grows,
    For the end that is approaching wears the finest garb it knows.
    And I pray that I may proudly hold my head up high and smile
    When I come to my September in the golden afterwhile.

    We don't need to live lives of hatred, of revenge.

    The Butterfly Effect : Everything you do matters!

    Every move we make and every action we take,
    matters not just for us, but for all of us...for all time.

    "When you know that everything matters
    --that every move counts
    as much as any other
    --you will begin living a life of permanent purpose.
    A life of permanent purpose will make you a better parent,
    a better spouse and a more valuable friend.
    Your productivity and financial success will soar to new heights
    while the old days of uncertainty, doubt, and depression fade into the past."

    ~ Andy Andrews ~
