This is a perfect video for dialogue with Christians, because it exemplifies that which Christians consider to be the greatest good of the religion, and that which many non-Christians feel is one of the most diabolically evil aspects of the religion.

I'm sorry, is this now the argument that God magically revealed the events of the Bible in code to the Chinese? So he's such a spectacularly poor communicator that his message was indecipherable and served no purpose except as an attempt to prop up apologetics centuries later?

I have similar sentiments about Christianity. (That is, I was lost in the darkness of Christianity, and now that I see it for what it is, my entire world is lit up the way it never was when I was shackled to faith.)

Cool, God's so significant and plays such a huge role in science that, with speciation explained, the earth dated to precision, the universe dated to precision, and quantum theory unveiling the origins of matter, Jesus is reduced to making cross-shaped structures in the body instead of, you know, making cancer disappear.

Interesting article. It reminds me of back when I was a Christian and reading the "Left Behind" books. One of the characters watched a news interview of a Catholic priest speculating that the disappearances were "God cleansing the unclean from the world", and the character mused about the irony and felt he had some hidden knowledge that the priest did not. I feel the same way looking at this article, aware of a major piece of the puzzle that escapes the author, who beats around the bush looking for it but never finds it. The reason is twofold: (1) cultural insularity has broken down with the advent of the internet and (2) disbelief is no longer a mark of eccentricity. Once the barrier to questioning the existence of a god is gone, the non-existence of that god rises to the surface and makes itself plain. We are seeing many more 20-somethings deconverting because there are fewer barriers to that process.

Generally ok, for the most part, in its conclusions. However, all the justifications are overloaded with religious woo, so I can't really take the conclusions seriously.

Making a message such that you have to STRAIN just to read the damn thing is one of the worst ideas you could come up with.
