Gonna go ahead and parse out bilnit's chain there: Obama = Bush = parent murderers > McCain = child-fuckers. Mm. Seems kind of a... wildly black and white (*wildy*) (NO, REALLY, FUCKING BALLS-OUT CRAZY) understanding of, you know... an entire nation's economic structure, politics, sociological sensibilities, media strengths/shortcomings, and unabashed damage control. A testament to how great this country is that all that could be encapsulated and dismissed by bilnit's two emotionally-charged sentences. O! And I gave this neither a thumbs-up nor a thumbs-down. Why? Because it's fucking complicated, and cannot be casually judged by the same thumb which declares puppies cute or terrible webcomics unworthy.

"Well now, I see some brothers and sisters in Christ in need. If you're a Christian and would like to help out brothers and sisters in Christ in Iraq, please get in touch with me. We can help." It's touching to see an admittance that Christ is powerless to help them. Alternately, it's touching to see an admittance that humans can help more substatially than Christ. If the "help" offered is merely prayer for the thousands of human beings in the area unfortunate enough to be indoctrinated into a system of belief discordant with the local or offically-supported views (as Muslims in America or Buddhists in Burma are), then it's unbelievably arrogant to assume that Jesus needs your help in pointing out things to fix. If the help offered is of a more substantial, secular nature, then it's unbelievably servile to assume that any good situations are attributable to Christ without realizing Christ is the one that got them into that situation in the first place.
