How to keep your Valentine's flowers fresh longer:
~Fill your sink with warm water. Place the stems in water, the use scissors to trim about an inch from each stem while it's underwater! This prevents air bubbles from forming in the stems and blocking the flow of water to the flowers.
~Throw a capful of bleach into the vase water to prevent bacteria from clogging the stems, then stir in half-cup of 7UP. the sugar fees fresh blooms, making them last longer. (Don't use colored soda like cola, it may discolor the flowers.
~Don't place the vase near fresh fruits and vegetables. The produce ethylene, a gas that makes plants age faster.
~Cut 1/2" from the stems every few days. Toss any dry leaves or blooms and place the arrangement in fresh water in a smaller vase.
