Metro Sweden (newspaper) is the official sponsor of the Swedish selection for The Eurovision Song Contest 2012. To communicate this, Morris Pinewood Stockholm created a design platform and a communication concept based on the insight of song birds and the link between birdcall and music. Simply called Eurovision Song Birds. A thought seeded from a comic strip printed on the inner sleeve of the LP \"Birds\" by the dutch group Trace (1975). Pairing different breeds, styles and species of birds with the characteristics of the artists brought us a wide array of visuals to be used as substratum for the whole campaign. A juxtaposition of bird aesthetics and the classic clichés of schlager music; the classic boy band, the country/schlager singer, the stiff electro pop male, the flirty euro disco, the spectacular etno band and last but not least the chorus driven anthems.

This is because of the design of those cards, the back of the cards may be different, but the front is (almost) always the same. Not this time! Steampunk is a joint creative collaboration between the United States Playing Card Company and theory11. Video and photographs by theory11. Product designed by Alex Beltechi, who was hired by theory11 to design a deck of cards inspired by the Steampunk movement.

In \'this week\'s web design\' I have a collection with 10 websites worth mentioning. I look to the design, the used technique and the idea behind a website. Recently I started adding HTML5 & CSS3 websites as well, mostly they\'ll work on all browsers, but if you use Internet Explorer as main browser, sometimes you won\'t see everything.

Andreas Xenoulis, a graphic designer based in Athens-Greece recently designed this poster and after that tind did the printing proces. This is an awesome opportunity to look into the whole proces of designing and printing a poster because of the great photos they made. This poster is a typographic project made out of Bodoni letters being inspired by the female sensitivity. Bodoni is a series of serif typefaces first designed by Giambattista Bodoni (1740–1813) in 1798. Bodoni has narrower underlying structure with flat and unbracketed serifs, extreme contrast between thick & thin strokes and an overall geometric construction. The reason they decided to use silkscreen as a method was to add a little spark using gold colours and gold foils to reflect the ultimate woman nobility.

Last week I was once again wasting my time on 9GAG when I came across an awesome post with word art. Someone made a selection of images with words, but used the letters of those words to illustrate the meaning of them. There are a few in here I didn\'t get right away, but once you get them all you have to admit, it\'s pretty clever. After some research I came across another website with some more examples. In this post you\'ll see them all, have fun!

The Burning House is a website based around one question... If your house was burning, what would you bring with you? It’s a philosophical conflict between what’s practical, valuable and sentimental. You’re forced to prioritize and boil down a life of accrued possessions into what you can carry out with you. What you would bring reflects your interests, background and priorities. People’s stage in life also dictates their selection. A father of five in his forties would grab very different things than he would have as a bachelor in his twenties. Think of it as a full interview condensed into one question.

Beavis and Butt-head is an American animated television series created by Mike Judge. The show centers on two socially awkward, rock/metal-loving teenage delinquents, Beavis and Butt-head, who live in the town of Highlands, Texas. They have no apparent adult supervision at home, are woefully undereducated and barely literate and dim-witted, and lack any empathy or moral scruples, even regarding each other. Their most common shared activity is watching music videos, which they tend to judge by deeming them \"cool\", or by claiming, \"This sucks!\". Special makeup effets artist Kevin Kirkpatrick (he has worked for some amazing movies!) made these prosthetic models of Beavis and Butt-Head to show what the cartoon legends would look like in real life.
