First from Mrs Longhurst, mother of Martha who was involved in the tragic incident with Colonel Willoughby-Smythe,she sent me a picture of Martha at dancing class where even in those days she favoured the wings that led to the Colonels tragic end.see:- clogiron.stumbleupon.com/review/20737916/ [clogiron.stumbleupon.com/review/20737916/]
Then from Tindink who sent me this picture of Mata Hari that was one of her Gran's treasures. Tindink tells me as well training Gran in Bellydancing, Mata Hari tried to recruit her as a spy.
Finally Dollyeyes sent me this picture of her maternal Grandmother, who was an Exotic Dancer under her stage name of Fanny Fandango. The snake she used in her act was called Augustus and on one occasion at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham, ate The Great Marcello's Performing Doves during the interval and was too sluggish to perform for the second house. The Great Marcello was not too pleased either apparently.
My thanks to all three ladies. I must say that the Mechanical Ladies Bellydancers seem to have Bellydancing in the blood .
