Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi

It’s the holiday season and life looks different, parties included, now that you are pregnant. It’s not just the mocktails instead of cocktails, or the favorite foods you now have to avoid (sushi, carpaccio, and delightful French cheeses). You may feel unsure of yourself or your changing body. Every day seems to be an adventure in transformation. In addition to nausea and fatigue, you are on the emotional-hormonal rollercoaster ride of a lifetime, which can make you fierce, weepy, euphoric and amnesiatic all at the same time.
Constant distraction is a modern dilemma that can actually drop your IQ by ten points, if not more.
The shopping season has officially started. Did you know the TV bombards our children with an average of 38 plus toy commercials per hour during the holidays? Which means kids are adding to their growing list of "gimmes." Parents, on the other hand, are nervously adding up their budgets, trying to figure out how to make everyone happy.
Tony D and I first came up with the idea for Post Apocalyptic Nick during those first few crazy months when we decided to launch The Webcomic Factory back in early 2010. Our goal from the beginning was to post a new comic every day of the week which meant we needed different titles and loads of them and we wanted to cover a variety of genres.

Friday night and the girls are out. Our monthly cocktail party for moms only - we call it Mommy Needs a Drink. It is a helpful venting and laughter session. It was supposed to be something we did once a year. After the first night, we understood that Mommy needed to get out at least once a month. Round-robin hosting - a different house each month. This month is Jennifer’s turn.
During the course of Post Apocalyptic Nick, we wanted to drop homages to various post apocalyptic movies. The convergence cultists wear white and white make up, which is a nod to Jason Robards in "A Boy and His Dog". Great little dystopian future pic if you've never seen it.
"Alessio didn’t want his nap. He wanted 'moto raff' - to sit on our friend’s motorcycle stored in our garage, a treat he gets to do sometimes, based on good behavior - which wasn’t today, or most of that week. My first week back at work. Alessio was more whiny than usual. Of course I had noticed, but hesitated about what to do. Now that I had less time with Alessio, the last thing I wanted was to get home and become 'The Enforcer.'"
"So here I am, a real life Cinderella. Princess Ivana Maria Pignatelli Aragona Cortes. I came from modest means. Becoming a princess was the last thing on my mind as I applied for a scholarship at Pepperdine (which I got), and which is where I met my husband, Prince Adriano, heir to a thousand-year lineage that includes Kings of Sicily and Spain, Catherine of Aragon, a pope and a bona fide saint."
"Seven a.m. - I throw open the curtains in my son’s room. Alessio, who is nearly 2, sits up in his bed and shouts, 'Hello world!' Courage in his voice, happy expectation. A once-in-a-lifetime day."
