Frank Zappa -- his musicianship remains some of the best work around. His arrangements were spectacular and underrated. Sure the lyrics are fun, but the music is amazing. Who else could create a dental floss tycoon from Montana.

Frank Vincent Zappa (December 21, 1940 – December 4, 1993) In a career spanning more than 30 years, Zappa wrote rock, jazz, electronic, orchestral, and musique concrète works. He also directed feature-length films and music videos, and designed album covers. Zappa produced almost all of the more than 60 albums he released with the band Mothers of Invention and as a solo artist.

His 1966 debut album with the Mothers of Invention, Freak Out!, combined songs in conventional rock and roll format with collective improvisations and studio-generated sound collages. His later albums shared this eclectic and experimental approach, irrespective of whether the fundamental format was one of rock, jazz or classical. He wrote the lyrics to all his songs, which—often humorously—reflected his iconoclastic view of established political processes, structures and movements. He was a strident critic of mainstream education and organized religion, and a forthright and passionate advocate for freedom of speech and the abolition of censorship.
Zappa was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.
Zappa was married to Kathryn J. "Kay" Sherman from 1960 to 1964, and in 1967 he married Adelaide Gail Sloatman, with whom he remained until his death from prostate cancer in 1993. They had four children: Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen. Gail Zappa manages the businesses of her late husband under the name the Zappa Family Trust.

Oh yeah. Bright red and it sticks with you even later on when you projectile vomit that sloe gin and Tom Collins mix you thought was soooo cool. I was 18 at the time and this is one decision that I would like back.

Sloe gin is a red coloured liqueur flavoured with sloe berries, the fruit of the blackthorn, a relative of the plum. Sloe gin has an alcohol content between 15 and 30 percent by volume (30° to 60° proof).
The traditional way of making sloe gin is to infuse gin with the berries. Sugar is required to ensure that the sloe juices are extracted from the fruit. Almond flavoring may be added.
Many commercial sloe gins today are made by flavoring the less expensive neutral grain spirits and produce a fruit cordial effect although a number of long established reputable manufacturers still use the traditional method.

I will give you one more tip. After consuming a large quantity of sloe gin and Tom Collins mix, one feels quite bad. Quite BAD. Not bad enough to kill yourself, but not necessarily disagreeable to the idea that someone else should do it. So that when your gut rumbles and you erupt with this vile blood-red spew, you are absolutely convinced that your stomach has been macerated and you are hemorrhaging to death. Worst 24 hours of my life.

Elephant Stew

1 medium-size elephant
Brown gravy
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 rabbits (optional)

Cut elephant into bite-size pieces. This should take about 2 months. Cover with brown gravy. Cook over kerosene fire, in big black pot, about 4 weeks at 465 degrees F.

Serves 3,800. If more are expected, add 2 rabbits. Add these only if necessary as most people do not like to find hare in their stew.
