If you have half a brain, you would realize that this would be very bad for everybody. There will be significant starvation associated with this. The worst case would be if the governments took these actions, crippled the economy and global warming turned out to not be caused by humans and we have to deal with non human caused global warming when our economy is crippled. This is the worst case scenario.

This is sick. This creates some perverse incentives for the prison industry that is bad for everybody. The incentive is for the prison operators to make the general population more dangerous so more of the inmates will pay for protection. It also make justice system into a for profit game. If there is a victim to a crime, any reparations should be made to the victim, not the state. If there is no victim, then there isn't a crime.

The psychiatrist broke confidentiality to warn the police about this guy. He was sending threats to the psychiatrist and the police didn't arrest him for uttering threats!? This whole thing could have been avoided if the cops arrested him for threats and made him get a psych evaluation. The police who did nothing need to be charged criminally.
