Grrrr. Well, this professor says that he thinks dyslexia is an excuse used by middle-class parents to hide the fact that the child is thick!
Well, sorry but my brother always struggled with writing and reading and was even tested by a child psychologist who said he had a very high IQ (180 ish at age 8!) but that bro was hyperactive. He wasn't diagnosed as dyslexic until he was taking his GCSE exams- too late for him- he had to retake his English exam three times and still didn't get a good mark at it.
Dyslexia is not an excuse, it is a condition and needs help and understanding not crackpot professors who have no experience with the real world! (you can tell when people don't have direct knowledge of stuff can't you!)
