This is good. Neiwert's checklist of factors that enable violence is very similar to the analysis in Becoming Evil: How Ordinary people Commit Genocide and Mass Murder -- disturbingly so, when you find these elements in American mass-media broadcasts today.

Thankfully, Niewert also punctures the balloon of left-wing self-righteousness that an analysis of right-wing hate speech always seems to inflate. As I've pointed out myself (to a much smaller audience) "liberals" have contributed a great deal of the fuel for the anti-liberal backlash with by indulging just as much as the Right does in the pleasures of moral superiority, "treating fellow Americans--the ones who are not like us--with contempt and disrespect." Demonizing conservatives for demonizing liberals is an idiot's battle that ends in scorched earth.

The nonsense has to stop. Identifying the root of the nonsense is the first step -- and the root is simple, it is the Old Monkey in each and every human soul, that claims Our Band Is the Best Band So We Get All the Bananas.
