Dave "theGypsy" with a post mentioning PageRank without making a terrible mistake - 9/10 SEOs know less than Dave.
Careful quoting Brian though, he doesn't think PageRank (just some) is needed to rank.

Whilst I have been an advocate of paid reviews, every single review I have written has been a "good link" - people weren't paying for the links, maybe not even for the traffic and attention - it was more about me taking the time to look at their service in-depth.

Jason from WebProNews thinks I might be "Link-Laundering" - is that a new term?
I suppose it comes down to 2 things
1. many feel the links were good in the first place
2. the links are not being washed, they are being filtered by an additional editorial process.

I am a huge fan of blog article syndication with one important factor - there has to be a link back to the original author. In this case SearchNewz has republished one of my articles with permission, they even spiced it up a little by including an extra image.
If you look at the footer, you will notice that there is a link "Originally published on Andybeard.eu" - the link doesn't pint to my domain, but to the permalink URL where it was originally published.
