"Lately, when I mentioned to people that I had an exhibition coming up, they would ask me what sort of exhibition and I'd say photography and explain what the Alice Duncan Prize is and that I'd been to Mexico. Then they'd ask some other things and then they'd finally ask what the theme of the exhibition was going to be. And then I'd say well, I'm showing the work that I made in the past year, or something along those lines. On a conscious level my work doesn't really have a theme. I don't go out and say I will explore or make a certain thing. It is more like collecting or maybe not even that, it is more like coming across things. I take pictures of things that I like or that I find strange, beautiful or meaningful. And my pictures show me what I am looking at."
