Manny is a 33 year old guy from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

One day a young Buddhist on his journey home, came to the banks of a wide river. Staring hopelessly at the great obstacle in front of him , he pondered for hours on just how to cross such a wide barrier. Just as he was about to give up his pursuit to continue his journey he saw a great teacher on the other side of the river. The young Buddhist yells over to the teacher "Oh wise one , can you tell me how to get to the other side of this river"? The teacher ponders for a moment looks up and down the river and yells back "My son, you are on the other side" .

From the page: "Free hugs is a real life controversial story of Juan Mann, A man whos sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their lives. "

I don't get where the controversy is, how is carrying a sign or hugging a stranger in any way shape or form controversial? That someone felt it necissary to ban this campaign proves beyond a doubt more clever and simple campaigns like this are exactly what is needed. Anything that makes anal retentive law and order types squirm discomfortably is by defination a good thing for everyone. Why is every aspect of modern life being tailored to suit the most dysfunctional human units in the ant colony, and normal functional humans need to bend to the will of hate filled monsters and cowards? This trend reminds me of a SCIFI story I read where atheletes were forced to wear large heavy weights to equalize their physical abilities with the average person's, a cautionary tale about lowest common denominator social thinking. I think this rant got away from me but I'll post it anyway :P HUGZ RULEZ!!!!

How many licks to get to the center of Norman Parker's many layered paintings? Go ask an owl...

Freedom of speech means more than speeches about freedom. It means allowance for the voice of dissent. The semi-informed seem to be able to reconcile the lack of logic that defines our times, by doing the two step, and the sad thing is so many intelligent people are busy doing this, frustrating the legitimate efforts at the basic information level with droning speeches about logical falicies, political biasis, and arguing techniques, those who would voice dissent must run a gauntlet of fools, cowards, and sociopaths for every small point made, while the opposing view can rest comfortable on rhetoric that is invalid on its face but nonetheless widespread and accepted and "socially" correct. This group behavior is a well understood phenomina in times of fear from outside "attack', real but more often imagined, and it goes back to the very foundations of western civilization aka Ancient Rome. Why are you doing the government's job for them? It's always been the goal of governments to consolidate power, and the populus's job to resist that consolidation of power by a free exchange of ideas during good times, and downright civil war during the bad. This is how the balance of a society is maintained. But when a people are working with the Government to help them consolidate power, its always a bad situation for all involved. The people become slaves to the state, the state becomes a slave to itself, and before long, a thriving civilization become so much rubble and disjointed legends, and the process begins again. So if you really are patriotic, you MUST oppose the government because it is unable to oppose itself in an effective way....this is not someone elses problem, you are not on the winning team...everyone loses at this rate. Ask Germany how excessive national pride plays out when the dust settles, mention the Nazi's for instance and see how much that has harmed them and continues to do so to this day. So will America do them a favor, by building a horrifying scenario so grand that their own black history can finally be overshadowed and a new defination of evil will be seen every time stars and stripes are combined, just as the swastika was transformed from a holy symbol to the very face of evil? If this is too verbose, and your unwilling to do some basic checking into truth, then do your country a favor...shut your piehole, and let the media handle the lie dealing for the government and accusations of bias. Of course, in this age of video, where illiteracy is almost fashionable, I can suggest a plan two for those who may not share this point of view but would like to understand it in a real, emotional way....simply watch Pink Floyd's "The Wall"...appart from the excellent music, you'll learn more watching that a few times than watching the news every night for a year...then maybe you can have a grown up arguement instead of henpecking on technique. Equal Right to an opinion does not make all opinions equal. BTW, sorry for the piehole comment, i know how much pie means to the american value system...maybe a nice eagle pie in the shape of a flag will fix things, but i bet it wont taste very good and eagles are hard to find in the USA anyway......
