Several human rights organizations based in the United States and Europe have filed a complaint in a Paris court accusing former Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld of responsibility for torture.
Just when you think your day can't get any better, you come home from a night out, decide to read the news, and find out Donald Rumsfeld is being sued for that whole advocating torture thing he did back in his defence secretary days. If I bothered my arse to celebrate Christmas I'd feel like it had come early. :)
Simply brilliant... One of my favourite discoveries of the year so far. Great for anyone who has a thirst for knowledge about the world around us, and for alternative answers to old and new questions and dilemas. Excellent.
I do wish they'd produce some evidence for this. The whole "trust us, we're the government" line doesn't wash the way it did five years ago. The only evidence I'm aware of that has been produced is Iranian weapons seized in Iraq. That's the equivalent of a militia in Canada having American weapons and the Canadian government claiming it is evidence that the Americans support said militia (sorry, not the best analogy - but you get my point).
This must be Jon Stewart's crowning moment. He completely tears them apart on one of TVs most respected political shows and exposes them for the corporate shills they are. Classic.
