sarit is a 38 year old woman from Somewhere In, California, USA

i'm inspired by the wonder and fullness of my son's spirit, by words, by music, by laughter and tears, by the sound of rain on the "roof" of a tent in the sierras, by butterfly kisses and random acts of kindness, by the light of the moon and the scent of fresh-baked bread, by the smell of a darkroom and wonder it breeds, by the click of my hasselblad and the ability to immortalize a feeling on film, by artists, and poets, and by you, dear reader, whomever you may be....

  • Can These Parents Be Saved? - TIME

wonderful article. i loved this: "10 is the new 2. We're infantilizing our kids into incompetence." how true that is. as one determined NOT to be a "helicopter parent," i am often looked at as odd or "dangerous" in my decision-making: like saying it's ok for my 8-year-old to walk next door to ask to play ON HIS OWN. ooooh, danger, will robinson. or, letting him venture off in a supermarket to get something on his own. oh, no! what might happen?! seriously, when i was a kid, i played away from my parent, outside, and until the lights came on. i went to the store by myself, i walked to school crossing busy streets, and i survived. however, currently, it seems we are suffocating our children's childhood (that freedom we adults chase and memorialize throughout our lives). we fill them with drugs that make our them sit still and stand at attention so they can do their classwork in lieu of play. recess is the first to go and the homework is piling up. we are creating automatons who ultimately cannot problem-solve or stand on their own without hand-holding. if this continues, our future looks terribly grim. let 'em get dirty, go on adventures, get a little scared and realize they are their own heroes. you get one childhood. period.

wait, Christian Louboutain finds Barbie's ankles too FAT??!!! As it is, this doll perpetuates an unobtainable and negative body image for young women, but to now imply that any part of her is fat is just insane.

wait, rush is going to judge the miss america pageant? it's always been an incredibly stereotypical event, but to have limbaugh judge it, the man who calls anyone who doesn't subscribe to his patriarchal shite a "feminazi," just puts the corn-syrup icing on the box cake.

now, this is one serious bad-ass. i am inspired: "They try to paint the picture that I was this downtrodden, ugly girl who was unpopular in school and in life, and then I got this role and now I'm awesome," says the actress. "But the truth is that I've been awesome, and then I got this role."

"Powerful friends of Polanski and a scandal-hungry media are attempting to portray this as a 'Hollywood versus Middle America' story, to quote a headline from the L.A. Times," O'Neill said. "But this is an example of celebrity culture gone haywire. Polanki is a convicted criminal pedophile who raped a 13-year old girl, and fled the country to avoid serving his sentence. Making excuses for Roman Polanski is dangerous talk. What message does this send to victims and potential victims of sexual abuse today?"
