SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(Marketwire – Apr 2, 2012) – StumbleUpon, the easiest way to explore new and interesting things from across the Web, today announced that Teal Newland, most recently a Vice President/Group Director at Digitas, has joined the company’s executive team as Vice President of Sales.
In her new role, Newland reports to CEO and co-founder Garrett Camp and oversees all of StumbleUpon’s advertising sales efforts for its Paid Discovery platform, which connects over 75,000 brands with their target audiences. Newland is working in StumbleUpon’s New York office.
“Teal has great experience connecting brands with native experiences online,” said Garrett Camp, StumbleUpon CEO and co-founder. “During her time at Digitas, she partnered with brands on becoming more creative and distributing their message through digital platforms. We believe that StumbleUpon, which makes over 1.2 billion content recommendations each month, is one of the best ways to deliver such content.”
“As part of the brand content practice at Digitas, I saw a growing investment from brands in content solutions to reach their customers. While an investment in content is important, it is equally critical to focus on the right distribution strategy and develop a plan for audience design,” said Newland. “StumbleUpon is unrivaled in content discovery, giving brands an opportunity to communicate when consumers are open to engage. By building a deeper relationship with the digital creative community, we can help integrate discoverability into the creative build itself.”

In that role, she led the Brand Content practice for a variety of leading consumer brands including American Express, Delta Airlines, Intel and ASUS. Prior to Digitas, Newland was the head of brand strategy for Disney Innovation (part of The Walt Disney Company) where she oversaw digital creative, social and media strategy across all Disney lines of business.
