RESPONSIBILITY?

First of all it was Jackson who talked about the responsibility of govt. Jackson and Sharpton are gatekeepers.

It is the responsibility of those who choose to take it to strike at the root. If that means providing where there is a lack of opportunity I gladly do it in the name of reason and compassion and lessons from Jesus.

The govt is not there to help people. WE ARE. The govt is just a barometer of the country's mental health. It's delirious and rambling right now.

That is all that needs to be said.

Jackson, Sharpton and etc... are not good examples of black people. Try Cosby, Chris Rock, Oprah Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg. Heck, try an actual african person, since IMO "african" americans are just americans, w/o any need for a hyphen. I am more foreign than they are, most of my ancestors have only been stateside for the last 100yrs, and I have spent almost 4 of my years abroad, had a child overseas and etc.

As far as government handouts, no thanks. Truth be told american blacks are more conservative than american whites, on average:

The only difference is on issues directly relating to race.

oh my; looks like the government is stepping in to make corrections for 'irresponsible' decisions again. What is the world coming to?

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Residents of a mostly black neighborhood in rural Ohio were awarded nearly $11 million Thursday by a federal jury that found local authorities denied them public water service for decades out of racial discrimination.

"The city, county and East Muskingum Water Authority all denied it and noted that many residents in the lightly populated county don't have public water."

Wheres thier money?

What government action causes a person to act a fool in school, sleep all day, and not do thier job if they bother to show up at all or have children that they don't take care of?

That is a lot of conjecture. What is your proof that this has anything to do with laziness?

Forum rules state: Backup what you say, or refrain.

Because it is the definition of lazy.

"averse or disinclined to work, activity, or exertion; indolent."

Where is the proof that it does not?

Wait, these people are being awarded a judgment because they were discriminated against by the local government for years. I missed the part in the article where it said that the people who received this restitution were acting out in school and never got jobs and have too many kids.

Oh, wait, they are black. Never mind. I get it.

"Attorney Mark Landes, who represented the county and water district, called the verdict disappointing. He said jurors were not allowed to hear defendants' testimony that neighborhood residents were offered water service years ago and refused it."
...
"Landes countered that about half of Muskingum County residents are not tied into the public water system even today. Among those without it are county commissioners, judges and other prominent officials, he said."

I remain unconvinced that this had much to do with race.

38. Agreed.

Using your own well water is normal around here.

38 - After reading more I tend to agree. That doesn't mean that the citizens of Muskingum County aren't skipping school, on welfare and have too many kids.

Amirite?
