well if they don't have a computer, then they probably are not going to be responding on this forum :P Anyway, the main reason I stopped watching mine, was just to save money, and I got sick of comercials.
There is just too much to do, why waste time watching TV? If I retired today and did nothing but read full time I would not have time to read all the books I want to read in the rest of my lifetime. I would not have enough time to hike all the trails. I would not have enough time to talk to my loved ones about all the things we talk about. I would not stumble all the stumbles! :D If I want to just mindlessly waste time I would rather be on the net to be honest. I do not have anything against TV, I just do not understand how people have time for it.
i want to watch less tv, but i think i'm actually scared! waht will i do with my time? if i read in my apt. i fall asleep. i can only walk my dog so far. i only have so many people to talk on the phone with. no computer at home.
i would feel more pathetic about this if i had ever lived without tv, but being raised with it on 24/7 has only taught me how to not do anything else! not even think about stuff.
i am a horrible procrastinator, and tv lets me get away with it. i want to be more creative (artsy) but tv lets me say "i'll do it another day"...
how do i stop the madness??
If you can't yet bring yourself to turn off your own TV, start out slow & easy by turning off TV's that don't belong to you... -That one in the Doctor's Office blaring Cable News is just crying out to be shut off.
6: get treatment? like ... get some highlights done.. get a spa treatment? a facial? how does your comment help in any way, shape or form?
7: lol.... i think the old ladies watching old weathermen in the dox office might attack me if i turned off their tv..

This is interesting. I haven't had a tv for about 18 months. I found that its really easy to sit and waste whole days surfing on cable (or satelite) tv and moaning about how terrible the programs are... and then complain that you don't have time to do anything!
Now if I watch 'tv' (hiring dvds or whatever), it's more like choosing to spend a little time watching that program and then doing something else, rather than just automatically turning it on.
peasofgreen - just try it for a while, see what else you can do. When the thing is sat in the corner of your room you're just going to turn it on again and *BANG!* there's another day gone!
Getting rid of my TV was the best thing I ever did!
