I think it's time to clearly state the purpose and the intent of this group. Based on several discussions, posts, threads, and general guiding principles, and in keeping with the Stumbleupon Terms of Service, we have concluded the following:
SU ToS clearly states that accounts created with the intent to promote another website or sells goods and services is strictly prohibited.
Sp@m-Free will publicly identify these accounts so that members can make their own determination and take whatever actions deemed appropriate.
NO INDIVIDUAL acts on behalf of the group as a whole.
StumbleUpon also neither necessarily endorses nor opposes any action of this group or members of this group.
SU ToS clearly states that multiple accounts are prohibited.
If multiple accounts are found and suspected of being used to circumvent the built-in controls of the SU toolbar, those accounts will be publicly identified by Sp@m-Free and members will be encouraged to take appropriate actions thru the use of flags, tags, thumbs-down, negative reviews, and SU feedback.
Sp@m-Free believes that there are only 2 ways to legitimately promote another website or blog.
Link to the page in your personal profile so that it appears on your SU blog.
Any other means, including off-topic posts in any group on SU, unsolicited PM's inviting someone to visit that page, or repeated reviews on your blog to the same domain may all be treated as an attempt to artificially generate traffic and thereby violate the SU ToS. These individuals may be publicly identified by Sp@m-Free and dealt with accordingly as outlined above in #2.
Sp@m-Free encourages some degree of tolerance, understanding that some new stumblers may be unaware of the ToS or general SU etiquette. For this reason, we encourage discretion before publicly posting other SU accounts. "Naming and Shaming" should be limited to blatant and egregious offenders, spam rings, and the like.
Sp@m-Free understands that its members have greatly varying degrees of tolerance for spammers, suspected spammers, self-promoters, and internet marketers looking to use SU to generate income. This group welcomes everyone, regardless of their personal opinions and tolerance levels. Open discussions and varying opinions are crucial to any debate or discussion if fairness is to be achieved.
