What about nano-mechanical devices which derive their power directly from the blood stream?

That will open up an entirely new class of mobile device, which is about as energy efficient as you can get.

And would also help off-set the looming gadget energy crisis...

Satellite technology ---> Sat Nav, internet connectivity for isolated areas, weather mapping.....

Maybe "robotic" technology, devices that can navigate their environment independenty.

What about the space race? I havent been keeping up with it, but I would love to know if they have come up with anything that will make longer trips feasible. Like say for trips to mars or asteroid mining and such.

I think AI may well come into it's own when 1. we know more about the brain, and 2. when we manage to build a functional biological "cell" processor...

Well that would be if you were going to model AI on what we and our brains do.

Given that you can start from scratch, there could be far better ways that the ones we use.

I think AI will really come into its own when it is seen as 'Intelligence' rather than 'a model of our Intelligence'
Maybe if we meet aliens, they will have their own ai systems with them...

No one owns anything, except by majority agreement. I'm sure the organisms and the AI may disagree on this.
