In some sense WE are all AI. We were created by something bigger than us. And just look at what were doing. Were debating about it. As we likley will with everyone we meet.
Back on topic for a moment, one of the most amazing scientific advancements in my lifetime is digital photography. I remember reading about how two big names in the photography world (maybe it was kodak and canon) were joining forces to develop the technology to create digital cameras - at the time I thought, nah that will never work. People aren't going to abandon film and the quality will never be as good. Ha!
Oh, and video game technology if that counts as a scientific achievement! I remember playing the space invaders on an Atari. How far things have come since then.
I think Desktop Fabricators -- like a printer for real objects. They are here now, and to some degree affordable. Personal laser cutters, CriCut paper cutter, stereo lithography. It will be amazing when anyone who wants one can make custom parts, objects.
so, no toal and die men anymore. I just order the plans and prograM MY OWN FABRICSATOR INSTEAD OF ordering then from the plant, so then we just have a card with a mothly allotment on it instead of jobs. Change is hard to keep track of. I guess we'll see, won't we. Are you sharing this fabricator and how long to get all the VW parts out and put together.

I was going to choose nanotech but that has already been covered so I will have to submit another intriguing technology--thought control. I know that the military has been working with it for many years but the following video shows how it can be used in a practical sense, most importantly to help those with physical challenges.
The micro-processor(Which is pretty much the same as the transistor mentioned before). There's no scientific invention in my lifetime(The last 30 years) that has been as revolutionary or as widespread. Not even the ubiquitous mobile phone or even the car can claim to be as intrinsic to our life as the humble "chip".
