Quanta Plus is also very good, and free. Are you using linux or windows?

Gedit is a very functional editor:

KWrite is like gedit but for KDE (and more functional out of the box). Another editor called Kate is quite alot like notepad++

I'm a fan of Kate when I'm on KDE. I still miss my EditPlus, which is unfortunately Windows-only.

I liked Kate too, but we all gave up on KDE a while back.
Aren't KWrite and Kate the same?
