The key to Gimp further Success is for it to have a strong supporting and Resourceful Community, 2.4 is around the corner with enhanced UI to give it that extra boost of apeal to new users, the only thing truly lacking in Gimp is its Community and Tutorials... i'm not sure how many people around the world use Gimp but i'm Assuming a big decent amount is out there, if you have the ability to create something you think is cool in Gimp, then why not go ahead and Create a tutorial for it.
I'd hate to see Gimp die out like coral-draw(almost dead),paintshop pro, photoipmact. which one of the reasons i believe was because its user base Community was very weak, i mean you can hardly find any tutorials or even an active forum about any of them.
From the GIMP site: ' Running GIMP on Mac OS X requires Apple's X11 environment '.
Perhaps I should have been clearer and said " I wish someone would produce a version of GIMP that doesn't need to have X11 installed, as they have done with OpenOffice ( NeoOffice ). '
