i would like to start this thread on a negative, maybe it will remain negative and ranty or maybe hope will spring,
i just installed vista ultimate, not impressed is understatement, xp so simple in comparison to this gummi behemoth, confusion,
And it says it can't run Comodo, it Can't run Bitdefender, due to incompatibilities,,
before i upgraded i was running a 2 computer network very sweet, now with vista the tcp/ip settings etc are All Over the place and all got new names of course and network setup wizard which is so user friendly on xp is defunct on vista, there is no compatibility between xp and vista that i can find, it's like trying to merge gas with electric, i am gonna have to roll back to xp i reckon,
Anybody tried vista and got good things to say about it??
(apart from the groovy sidebar clock)

I dont like Vista either. Ok some visual things are nice, but beyond that its just annoying. The interface is more complicated, not intuitive. Since buying a laptop that was preinstalled with vista, I have now deleted the OS and installed Unbuntu Linux OS, and thats awesome.

Installing software on Vista is a problem. Licensed software (Directory Opus) didnt install, I had to update the license for Vista Compatibility :(

I only need the laptop for surfing and email, so the OS is perfect and im very happy with the change. This is the first time I installed Linux :)

On my main PC, I have windows XP and never plan to upgrade to Vista.

hi Invent, yeah vista looks real Swanky, but underneath it's just Wanky.
counterintuitive, i was wrestling with it for a couple of days, i think a linux distro could only be simpler, i wonder if vista will have to die due to unpopularity like an Edsel Betamax, or if micrasoft will continue to force it upon us,,

I am using Vista...only due to buying a new laptop. I have had no problems with it..don't really see what all the hype was about but it hasn't messed up as much as XP. I still have not tranferred my old files to my new laptop..bought that windows to vista data transfer cable..took way too long.
