I even saw a post a while back in THIS group, no less, telling everyone here that we need to respect the Christians beliefs. I was like WTF! I don't have to respect their fucking beliefs. I'll respect their person, but I'll be damned if I'll respect their beliefs.

So long as that yields a tangible response. I don't suspect it ever will though. The best I suppose you could hope for is, "It offends me because it's my religion you are talking about". But I'm afraid that's just not good enough. I can do polite, but expecting me to supplicate and walk on eggshells is expecting way too much.
Religion had pulled this trick for centuries and we've been complete suckers for it.
919. Exactly. They don't see a problem laughing in my face when I tell them I believe in the FSM or IPU (which I don't, but the point is, it is perfectly legitimate that I could). They get to laugh at my belief but I can't them. Hypocrites. Both ideas are equally valid... and both can be snickered at or embraced. If I want to say, "Your idea of god is utter bullshit, it reeks!" I should be able to... just as they can do for my beloved IPU.
