Rubella

Sense was founded in 1955 as a self-help and support group for the parents of children whose disabilities were neither recognised nor provided for. The children were born deafblind as a result of their mothers catching rubella (German measles) in pregnancy.

When Sense started in 1955, rubella in pregnancy was the main cause of congenital deafblindness. Thanks to vaccination, this is much less common and Sense wants to keep it that way. Sense recognises the difficult decisions parents have to make. We believe you have the... more
