Huxley's anticipation of a SOMA controlled world was an interesting possibility which - I suspect - has passed us by. What he failed to pick up on (and it was well under way by the time he wrote BNW and firmly established by the time he made this speech) was "Mind Control By Media Control" or the Public Relations industry and it's mutant offspring. Chomsky's the source on that subject, not least with Manufacturing Consent.
What is perhaps of longer term interest to we opponents of Authoritarianism is his unfettered use of the term "Terrorism" which he freely uses to describe the actions of the authoritarian regimes of Hitler, Stalin and Mao. Today's authoritarians are not (yet) as brutal to their own populations but are clearly just as wedded to the techniques of terrorism. Which is why, of course, they fight so hard to avoid defining it.
