Yeah, nonviolent resistance is really a wonderful way to handle things up to a certain point - that being the point when the less violent people start being slaughtered in droves by the people who are more willing to kill. Be nonviolent as often as possible, yes, but true pacifism is just really not anything more than a naive ideal for now. Maybe a long-term goal, at very best. And yes, killing for reasons like nationalism and other forms of persecution is absolutely retarded.
That having been said, how well do you think nonviolent resistance would've worked in World War II? Given a few years, the pacifistic peoples of the world would've fucking been made into lamp shades. No matter how well intentioned you might be, if you're not willing to fight - physically fight - some of the time, you're risking far more than should even be your right to risk.
