It will not replace religion. It will just become another religion.
I've seen various arguments, but in truth, religion will never go away. Faith is built into our psyche. Not religious faith specifically, but faith in general. The default reaction to a new piece of information is faith, especially when the person giving the information is an authority figure. It takes work to go beyond just accepting what you're told, and human beings are lazy creatures.
Couple this with Prof. Jason Read's thoughts, atheism thrives among the social parasites of our developed societies.
way too many generalizations.dont mix spiritual beliefs wit religious ones.there is more to us than what u can see.
The author of this article should be more discerning in future articles.
iam not atheis :D
but lots are still unexplainable. None religion/science requires just as much faith as a god all around us who created everything.
Just because someone put their kid in a Catholic School doesn't necessarily believe in god dude. I am from the country (more or less), my parents sent me to a Christian Elementary School, I am surrounded by God fearing morons and I don't believe in sky man upstairs. It isn't explainable with sociology or stratification. It is either you believe in whole heartedly on some fairy tale or you think we got here in a logical way that is on many ways mpre interesting and astonishing than religion addicts bullshit stories.
Mmkay. That explains all of the Catholic schools with outstanding academic performance perfectly.
I can see your point but I don't like some of the wording you've used. Education does not equal intelligence. This article implies that people in under-developed countries are unintelligent because they believe in god. I think that more people are become less religious because with science we can explain things that were originally thought to be works of god. I also think that having no religion does not necessarily mean having no beliefs or no morals.
Atheism will replace religion because that's what the Illuminati need to totally control the world's idiots.
there seem to be a lot of fallacies in this argument. most people "might not" believe in mainstream religion (e.g. Christian, Islam, Jew) in the future but more cults and new age religions appear in developed nations than in any other. people are willing to believe in " any religion" (aliens from space, inter-dimensional beings, Elvis) because our fear of death is so great that many people allow hope to override their reason. Religion is here to stay
"NickasaurusRex", you're a fool. Religion and Intelligence have a statistically negative correlation. Just because you know someone who's really clever that also happens to be "spiritual" doesn't change the statistics. If you're more intelligent, you're likely to be Atheist. They are related whether you like it or not.
Who breeds more?
Your argument seems invalid. In that religion and intelligence is somehow linked. Some of the greatest minds have also been very spiritual. It can also be said that some of the greatest minds have lacked any faith. Your argument on that account to me lacks credibility. A great portion of the world's population in their youth believed in something. Social media has made God uncool. To ignore that factor, really hurts your psychology argument. Another topic you did not address at all is the higher suicide rate in these more highly educated countries.
I could go on, but Its not for me to point out the flaws within your argument. Ignorance is bliss they say after, believe what you will.
Psychologytoday has been too many times on stumble today
Agnostics more than anything else should be increasing.
atheism != science
