This is a good article that explores where societal morality comes from, and surprise! it isn't religion. This analysis tracks well with my experience. I have met good, religious people and horrible religious people of various religions. I have also met good non-religious people and horrible non-religious people. As my last post demonstrates, your sexual orientation does not effect how good you can be, nor does your race, or socio-economic class. Morality also shifts quite a bit over time, and I would say has had quite a dramatic shift even over my short lifetime. I hope we are becoming even better people.
